Giving instructions 下命令

We use ‘please’ to make an instruction more polite . 我们用“请”使命令比较礼貌。

When we give an instruction, we can leave out the subject. 当我们下命令时,我们省略主语。如:

Don’t make any noise.不要制造噪音。

Please take the dog for a walk.请蹓一下狗。

Using ‘should’, ‘ought to’, and ‘must’ .

We use ‘should’ ‘should not’ to give advice and to tell people what is the best or right thing to do; ‘ought to’ and ‘ought not to’ have similar meanings to ‘should’ ‘should not’。我们用 “should”和 “should not” 向别人提出建议,告诉别人最好做哪些事或做哪些事是正确的; “ought to”和 “ought not to”与 “should”和 “should not”有类似的含义。

篇3:牛津译林版初中英语教学效果初探

一、严把词汇关, 多手段激发学生兴趣

词汇是英语学习的根本所在。许多七年级学生意识不到词汇学习的重要性, 疏于背诵记忆单词, 在作业和考试中不会拼写单词、拼写错漏百出的现象时有发生, 自然学习的效果不佳。在中考和高考不考语音的指导下, 初中教师往往忽视语音教学, 片面强调学生死记硬背, 课堂死气沉沉, 显然与教学目的背道而驰。前年我带七年级时, 用表格形式打印了元、辅音字母在单词中常规读音, 并分发给学生, 要求学生课后记忆不同的单词的发音, 掌握拼写单词的技巧。到一定阶段后专门针对单词记忆举办讲座, 分享方法。常用的比如串记法, 由he想到her, 由her想到hers;联想记忆法, 由forest让学生模拟记忆为for的最高级……活动的开展让学生感到记忆单词的乐趣和轻松。在重视词汇学习的同时, 我根据词形、词义、词的功能对词汇有意识地加以扩展和延伸。两年坚持下来, 学生在学好教材单词的同时日积月累近三百个额外的词汇, 让学生的词汇量有了实质性提高, 并对进一步教学有明显的辅助效果。

二、加强口语训练, 提升学生的听力水平

牛津版教材的特点是, 伴随教学内容的不断深化, 教材中对话practice的内容越来越少。一个单元的口语训练材料只剩下“comic trip”和“speak up”两部分中少得可怜的内容, 离学生口语训练要求远远不够。因此, 从七年级第一单元开始, 我开始着手学生的口语表达能力培养。首先针对不同阶段制订了一整套常用课堂教学用语, 并把人教版教材中对话、课文作为学生同步听力材料对学生进行补充训练, 效果显著。同时, 我不定期组织学生观看中央电视台的少儿英语, 唱、听英语歌曲, 看英美大片等, 创造条件训练学生的听力, 力求学生可以“听懂”和“说出”, 渐渐形成在课间和课后, 学生之间运用简单英语交流, 遇见外语教师使用英语。由于学生英语背景知识的增强, 其词汇量的与日俱增, 我会设计“topic”话题, 一天一练, 布置学生每天课后准备, 每节英语课上用5分钟时间交流, 学生也可自己设计话题。两年的训练下来, 学生的口语交际能力明显增强。

三、强化词法、句法、语法的教学, 提高学生分析问题、解决问题的能力

江苏牛津译林版教材的运用性很强, 在教学中, 我们在讲授教材内容的同时, 对于词法、句法和语法的教学尤其要重视。

1. 词法教学

七年级的词汇教学要求学生除了记忆单词的词形和词义, 还要记住单词的词性, 必须专门对英语十大词性的功能列表作出讲解和举例, 比如形容词修饰名词、副词修饰动词等。到八年级是需要渗入词的用法功能和构成功能学习, 特别是动词的非谓语功能的形式, 如过去分词和动名词可作定语使用等。词法的应用强调学生的体会和总结归纳。例如:八年级学过一组词polluting/polluted;inte re s ting/inte re s te d;s urp ris ing/s urp ris e d;a ma zing/a ma ze d;e xc iting/e xc ite d, 课堂上要求学生根据这些规则去解答实际的练习题。

2. 句法教学

牛津版教材七年级、八年级淡化了句法的说法, 我在学生才理解简单的句子结构之后, 立即补充了“S+V+O”句型的讲解, 使学生明白在英语中没有动词的句子是不存在的 (个别除外) , 要求学生理解并始终记住这一句型。随着教学内容的增多, 再逐个介绍其他四种简单句型。这样, 学生在八年级接受并列句和复合句就不会太难。讲解句法的同时, 我也介绍按语气分类的四种句型, 即:陈述句、疑问句、祁使句和感叹句。引导学生在学习中一遇到句子, 条件反射地分析句型, 然后再分析句意, 学生的句法学习就会有很大的提高。

3. 语法教学

在语法的教学中, 我非常重视时态的教学, 根据意义、结构、特征词和特殊用法分类归纳教学。在练习解答句子时, 要求学生养成先分析结构, 再分析时态, 最后分析用到的词组的步骤解题, 这样正确率会大幅提高。

四、强化阅读训练, 提高学生对整体课文的感悟能力

在学生有了一定的词汇和语法基础后, 开始对学生阅读能力培养。我给学生制订了阅读计划, 每周至少读两篇。八年级我主要以学校教研室的阅读训练材料为主, 强化训练;在选取材料时, 我尽量注重选择趣味性强、生活性浓、激励性高的阅读性文章。同时我还建议学生购买一些简化后的英文对照的世界名著, 相互交换阅读。通过不断的阅读训练, 不仅学生的英语学习、英语阅读的兴趣非常浓厚, 而且无形之中阅读理解的解题能力也有了质的飞跃。

五、强化写作训练, 提升英语表达能力

英语表达能力是体现学生英语水平的根本, 江苏牛津译林版英语教材的一个最大的亮点, 就是每个单元配备有一个写作训练专题, 贴近学生的生活实际, 便于训练。基于这一点, 我从七年级下学期开始给学生制订了一个详尽的写作计划, 主要是为了培养学生的写作爱好, 提升学生的英语表达能力。同时我组织学生自己设计墙报和英语角, 编辑“我爱学英语”的手抄报等多种形式, 对学生英语写作的积极性大有帮助。

在新课标的理念指导下, 教学的目标是为了学生的全面发展, 创建高效课堂, 初中英语教师应该结合新课改的要求, 分析新教材的特点, 根据学生的学习发展情况, 努力探索新的教学教法, 不断提高牛津译林版初中英语的教学效果。

一、高度的科学性和精密的系统性

本教材按照“话题—功能—结构—任务”相结合的思路编排,以话题为主线,任务为主导,辅以功能和结构项目,有效培养了学生综合运用英语的能力。7A9A每本书六个单元,每三个单元又自成一个模块;9B四个单元,构成两个模块;全套教材共34个单元,12个模块。每个单元围绕一个话题展开,包括卡通漫画(Comic strip)、导入(Welcome to the unit)、阅读(Reading)、词汇(Vocabulary)、语法(Grammar)、综合技能(Integrated skills)、学习技巧/语音(Study skills / Pronunciation)、中心任务(Main task)和检测(Checkout)九个板块,共用十个课时完成一个单元的教学。

二、浓烈的趣味性和鲜明的思想性

牛津教材的每个单元都以学生喜闻乐见的卡通漫画(comic strip)开始,主人公小狗埃迪(Eddie)和电子狗霍波(Hobo)个性鲜明,教材图文并茂,对话妙趣横生,语言浅显简洁,话题内容丰富,极大地激发了学生学习的兴趣。

本教材在传授英语语言知识的同时,也注重教会学生如何生活、学习、工作、交际以及和自然和谐相处,具有鲜明的思想性。譬如,8B Module 2 Rights and responsibilities包括三个单元,Unit 4 A charity show、Unit 5 International charities和Unit 6 A charity walk,分别讲述了阳光中学举办的慈善义演、Amy对奥比斯医生的专访以及香港乐施会主办的毅行者活动情况。通过学习自然地唤起学生们的爱心,教他们要学会关爱他人,要有助人为乐的奉献精神,要积极投身各种慈善活动,并且要努力践行团队精神。

三、适度的发展性和合理的前瞻性

全套教材语言表达规范,情景鲜活,贴近学生实际,语言现象再现率高,符合学习语言的认知规律和初中生身心发展规律。比如,7A Unit 1 This is me!创设了新同学初次见面的情景,Welcome to the unit板块设计了“Good morning / Hello / Hi. Im/My names...”这一简单句型来作自我介绍,学生易学易用。Reading板块先设计了三个学生以第一人称作自我介绍,分别谈论姓名、年龄、所在班级、住址、外貌和爱好等,然后设计了以第三人称来介绍其他三位学生,从而自然过渡到一般现在时第三人称单数的用法,学生易于接受。

牛津英语教材编写语言材料的目的不仅为了教学语言,更重要的是激发学生对高科技的兴趣和对未来的向往,9B Module 1对此作了最好诠释。此模块包括两个单元,Unit 1 Life on Mars把背景设置在2100年的火星上,情节是人类移居火星;Unit 2 Robots的情景是江先生购置了一台家用机器人所带来的利与弊。这两个话题新颖、前卫,具有极强的前瞻性。

四、全面的实践性和突出的评价性

本教材围绕话题内容的是一系列的听、说、读、写等课堂活动和要求学生完成的任务,学生通过体验、实践、参与、合作、交流和探究等方式学习和使用英语,真正体现以学习者为中心的教学理念。功能、语法和词汇是语言运用的重要基础,同样也得到应有的重视。教材将语言知识置于生动的语言情景之中,使枯燥的语言学习成为真实、有趣的实践活动。

教材的每个单元的每个板块都配有密切相关的、丰富多彩的、形式多样的任务,学生通过完成这些任务,自我评价、体验成功、建立自信,同时也逐步能理解、掌握和运用各种学习策略。以9A Unit3 Integrated skilled为例,此板块首先要求阅读Sue的简介,体验阅读的愉悦;其次完成部分与Sue有关的笔记,体验获取信息的快乐;接着听一段对话完成笔记的剩余内容,再次体验获取信息并能作记录的快乐;然后根据获取的信息完成一份访问记录,评价自己综合信息的能力;最后两人一组开展对话,学会谈论个人问题及提供建议,检测自己口头表达能力。

五、珍贵的创造性和丰富的拓展性

牛津初中英语课程教材着眼于促进每位初中学生全面发展,它围绕“传授知识,强化素质,发展能力”这一根本宗旨进行编写,把原有的推行语言为本的英语教学转变为发展学生素质的英语教育。学生在学到英语基本知识、基本技能的同时培养自身认识问题、分析问题、解决问题的能力,尤其是增强自身的创新意识、创新精神和创新能力。本教材也为学生提供了自主学习和相互交流的机会以及充分表现和自我发展的空间,从而为终身学习创造条件。例如,每个模块之后的Project内容就是培养学生创造精神的好材料,它从根本上把过去的被动接受学习改变成一个积极的主动学习,把一个枯燥的背诵和记忆的经历变成一个不断提高语言运用能力和人文素养的过程。

本套教材已经推广使用好几年了,在使用过程中,我也发现它有几个明显的瑕疵:

首先,每个单元的词汇(Vocabulary)、学习技巧/语音(Study skills / Pronunciation)和检测(Checkout)三个板块语言材料略显单薄。

其次,部分单元的Main task的话题不利于操作,值得商榷。

再次,部分模块的单元话题有待整合。
