Step1.Warming up (15 mins)

Ss know a lot about sports from everyday life and media, so I arrange such a task -discussion(group of 4):

Q: What do we know about sports?

During this process, if Ss can’t express themselves in English, Chinese is also all right. Besides, it is a

good chance to present new words. If necessary, I will make some complements. At the same time, I will present them as many pictures about sports as possible.

Step 2. Speaking(15 mins)

Task1(pair work): Talk about their favourite sports, favourite sports stars, and the reason why they like them, with the following expressions as a guide.(See SB p52)

Task2(pair work): A survey about physical fitness (See postscript 1)

Task3(group work): Add up their total scores and divide by the number of human. Then get their group’s average scores. Discuss their survey answers.

1). Do you think your group is doing well or not? Why ?

2). How can you become fitter?

Purpose: The students will use the information from the above step to talk about their interests and hobbies and to practise giving reasons for their opinions.

Step 3. Listening (15 mins)

Task 1: Brainstorming(encourage Ss to tell me as many words about that as possible)

Purpose: to work as a guide of listening part.

Task 2: Listen to three sports reports and fill in the missing information

Purpose: In this activity, the students will hear three sports reports about basketball, football table tennis. It is what they are interested in and to learn to understand sports news report.

Task: Find out some background information about the Olympics. T will offer them some websites as well:

Home alone Act one Mom and Dad arrive back from vacation a day earlier than expected. The curtains are closed and the living room is dark when Mom and Dad enter. Dad: It’s so nice to be home!

Mom: Yes, I can’t wait to surprise the boys!

Suddenly a door opens and a soccer ball flies through the room. Eric runs in after it, followed by a big dog, walking very slowly. Eric: Mom! Dad! You’re back early! (looking around room, sounding frightened) But, but--- you weren’t supposed to come home until tomorrow! The dog slowly walks to Mom and Dad. Mom: (Bending to touch dog) Eric, he’s so tired and hungry! (looking at table) The money for dog food is gone, but Spot looks like he is starving! What did you do with the cash we left? Mom and Dad both turn towards Daniel. Dad: (sounding very angry) listen to me, young man----we left you in charge? We thought you could act like an adult! We won’t tolerate such behavior in our house!

Growing pains Many teenagers feel lonely, as if no one understands them and the changes they are going through. Day by day, everything seems different, yet the same. Life never seems to be going fast enough; yet, in other ways, like a race car, life seems to be rushing too fast and even going out of control. Has anyone else ever felt this way? These feelings are a common part of adolescence—the time of life between child and adult. And, though it may some times be difficult to believe, you are not alone—every adult has gone through adolescence, and your friends are going through it right now along with you. It is common for teenagers to feel lonely and misunderstood. These feelings can be thought of as growing pains—the difficulties that teenagers face as they grow to adults.

As teenagers grow, it is normal for them to become confused with the changing world both inside and outside of them. During adolescence, teenagers go through great physical changes. They grow taller and their voices get deeper, among many other developments.

Along with these physical changes, there come many psychological changes. Boys and girls tend to be different in this regard. Many boys become risk-takers—they want to find their own limits and the limits of the world around them, but may not have the wisdom to make good choices in their behavior. At the same time, girls often want someone—anyone—to talk to, as they try to deal with their strong feelings.

In the social world, as teenagers get older, they struggle to depend on themselves. They may badly want and need their parents’ love, yet feel distant; they may want to be part of the group, yet desire independence. Since teenagers have difficulty balancing these needs, they often question who they are and how they fit in society.

The good news is that these kinds of growing pains do not last. In the end everything turns out OK—the teenager becomes a healthy adult, and this period of change and challenge is traded for the changes and challenges of grown-up life.

让学生与时俱进,心理上做好学好英语的准备

正确引导学生从初中到高中的心理转变,树立学习英语的信心。高一新生入学后,教师就应有针对性地对他们进行正确引导,端正他们思想上的各种错误认识,消除他们头脑里的各种消极情绪。要让他们意识到高一年级虽然是起始年级,但是整个高中阶段打基础的要害阶段,思想上一点也不能存在麻痹思想,应全身心地投入学习。对于那些想要“歇一歇”的学生来说,要让他们意识到学习如同逆水行舟,不进则退。只有发奋努力,继续发扬拼搏精神,才不至于落后于他人。对于那些学习上有畏难情绪的学生来说,首先要打消他们的思想顾虑,让他们意识到高中英语与初中英语都是阶段性的,初中英语基础对高中英语学习的影响不是太大。其次要鼓励他们树立坚定的信念和必胜的信心,只要认真,完全可以学好高中英语。再次,在打消顾虑、树立信心的同时,还应帮助他们查漏补缺,消除隐患。

二、培养学生学习英语的良好习惯,使之终身收益 注意培养了学生以下几个新的学习习惯。

1. 课上记好笔记,课下整理错题的习惯。我从一接手就要求学生准备好笔记本和错题记录本,笔记本上要齐全本节课的知识要点,并注明日期,条理清晰,以便于及时复习。在做完练习或考试后,要将自己做错的题目、写错的句子认真整理到错题本上,进行回顾反思,以便在今后翻阅过程中吸取教训,加强对正确知识点的记忆和理解。这对打好英语基础起了很大的作用.

2、使用工具书的习惯。让学生学会自己查字典以扩大词汇量。同时自备一本好的英语语法工具书,养成经常翻阅的习惯,在口、笔头实践中使学生有意识地运用所学的语法知识,正确地理解语言和运用语言。

3、预习的习惯。要求学生作预习笔记,即把所预习的东西写成有形的条目,这样既便于检查落实,又能对其进行指导。

4、阅读课外书与摘抄的习惯。通过泛读训练,不仅培养阅读兴趣、习惯、技巧和能力,还同时扩大了词汇量,增长了知识。 我校备有一流的硬件设备,这使我们具有很大的优势。我们经常利用多媒体为学生创设愉快学习情境,利用优美的外国名曲、生动的卡通动画、向学生展示图、文、声、像相结合的丰富多彩的教学内容,使学生融入到一个全英语的语言环境,提高了教学效果。但是在制作课件时,把握了教学重难点,防止电教为“电灌”,要求学生主动思考的,决不“包办”。其次对重点词汇及句型进行教学时,要适当留点时间给学生做笔记,点鼠标速度不能太快,否则学生上课光看,光听,课后没有笔记去复习巩固,后果可想而知。

高中一年级是中学阶段承前启后的一年,这一年学生成绩的好坏关系到整个高中阶段的英语教学任务能否顺利完成。正所谓万事开头难,头开好了,后面的工作就好做得的多。所以如何让高一学生顺利完成初中到高中的过渡,这是高一英语教师必须认真考虑和妥善处理的一个重要问题。下面本人就在高一英语教学中的一些体验和方法作以总结:

一、培养兴趣,激发学生学习英语的热情

1、树立良好的教师形象,引发学生对该学科的兴趣。

一是知识形象。一个好的英语老师应具备流利的口语,纯正的话音语调,纯熟的语法知识和丰富的语言背景知识。

二是授课艺术。教师要认真严肃地备好每一节课,授课要有热情,教态要亲切自然,板书要工整有条理,要求学生背诵的课文,段落,自己首先要背熟。另外还要做到课堂时间分配得当,上下课准时。这样做的老师,无形中就在学生的心目中树立了良好的形象。

2、激发和保持学生学习英语的兴趣。 初中生进入高一后,在学习英语上会遇到许多困难,而能否激发和保持他们的学习兴趣则是一个能否成功地进行高中英语教学的一个关键。郭沫若先生说得好:“兴趣出勤奋,勤奋出天才”。随着学习的深入,生词难记,语法难用,课文难懂等问题都会出现,如不及时引导,学生的兴趣就会渐渐减弱,因此教师授课一定要讲究趣味性,逐渐过渡到全英语授课,最大限度地再现所学的知识,让学生在快乐的氛围中学习英语。

二、正确引导,树立信心

初中生进入高一后,都有一种兴奋的心情,但兴奋之余看到长长的课文,每单元30-40个生词后,不免会产生畏难情绪。所以每一届新高一的第一节课上我都会讲到:“高中英语确定比初中英语难;生词多,课文长,语法难,听说读书的要求更高一些。但‘where there is a will, there is a way.’。大家只要掌握良好的学习方法,师生共同努力,就一定能完成初中英语到高一英语的过渡。

三、查漏补缺,夯实基础

很多农村学生的英语基础较差,因此,在高一第一学期首先要对学生进行各种摸底考查,目的是了解学生对初中英语掌握的程度,从而有的放矢地进行“填平补齐”的教学工作。 (一)集中补语音

一般在开学后的前几周进行语音的补习。这样做的目的是为今后的学习打下良好的基础并具有初步的自学能力。 (二)分散补语法 初中的有些语法,尤其是时态,语态及句子结构等,学生并未完全掌握,而在高中的课本中,初中学过的语法基本不再作为新语法项目来讲。所以在高一把初中的语法分散在各课中来讲。例如高一(4)(5)(6)单元的定话从句的讲解,可以先复习初中所学的名词,形容词作定语的用法,再复习短语,不定式作定语的用法,如a clever boy 到 a boy in hat,然后引申到句子作定语——定语从句的讲解。 (三)按顺序巩固单词

初中的单词量虽然不算太多,但却是最基本最常用的,经过一个暑假之后,学生们已经忘记了不少单词,所以在讲授高一新课的同时,利用初中课本或词汇手册,按1-6册的顺序复习和巩固单词。

只有解决了学习英语的基础——词汇问题,又解决了学习英语的关键——语法问题,才能为下一步学生能力的培养创造条件。

四、讲明教法,指导学法,培养能力

在初中的教学中,以句型教学为主。但高中的教学任务和要求有所不同,高中侧重培养学生的阅读能力,所以本人一般采用听说领先,读写为主的教学方法。 这里讲的“听说领先”,自然是以听说开路:听老师讲,听录音,把听力提高;还要设计和创造各种情景让学生练习口语。但在听说领先的前提下应以读写为主。基于此原则,每一届高一新生,我都明确要求:每篇课文必须熟读,背诵其中重点句型、段落,让学生养成读的习惯。读得多了,语感就形成了。有了语感,听说很自然地就逐渐跟上来了;有了语感,改错和写作的水平也能不断地得到提高。对高一学生的写作,我的做法有3点:一是坚持写日记,二是写以初中本内容为题材的短文;三是针对高一的课文进行写作。 (二)指导学法

在给学生讲的教法之后,还要给学生指明学法。学法就是指导学生学会如何学习。从而让高一学生在最短的时间内适应高中的英语教学。古人云:“授人以鱼,只供一饭之需;教人以渔,则终身受用无穷。”在教学过程中,教师不仅要让学生掌握课本知识,更重要的是教会学生如何学习。

1、培养良好的学习习惯

英语教师要指导学生养成以下几个方面的习惯:

1)朗读的习惯。外语首先是语言,语言是要讲究读的。而我们学外语又缺少环境,所以朗读是很必要的。因此早读一定要要求学生开口读,养成朗读的习惯。

2)预习的习惯。预习主要是记忆单词。浏览课文和了解要学的语法,同时把课本中不懂的单词、词组、句子划出来。从而在听讲时有所侧重。预习是学生主动地参与课堂教学的过程,所以应要求学生在学习新课前进行预习。

3)写日记的习惯。写日记贵在平时坚持,没有捷径可走。务必让学生养成动笔的习惯,有话则长,无话则短;有时间多写,无时间少写。这样做对以后的写作很有好处。

4)整理错题的习惯。让学生准备一个错题本,对每次作业考试中出现的错误都要及时认真地进行整理,弄清错的原因,以便对症下药。

2、指导单词记忆方法。记忆单词是学生普遍存在的一个困难。教师应教会学生运用各个感觉器官,从读其音,观其形,释其义等几个方面培养自己的观察力和记忆力,而不是机械地死记硬背每个单词。

总之,树立信心是衔接教学的基础,夯实根基是衔接教学的关键,进行学法指导,培养能力是衔接教学的目的。只要不懈地努力,就一定能够完成好初高中英语的衔接工作。
