Minutes of an Annual Meeting of Council Members of the Chemistry Society of P&O University This meeting was held in the conference hall of the reception house of P&O University, 69 Brand Road on Tuesday, May 25, 1995 at 8:00 a.m.Present at the meeting were: Mr.Sunny Brown, Mr.Alex Jester, Miss Jenny Skies, Mr.Douglass Seaton, Mr.George Alexander, Miss Donna Ryan, and others.Absent from the meeting because of illness or business were: Mr.Hall Franks and Miss Sophie Freda.Mr.Mike Hillman was the Chairman of the meeting.The Chief Items at the Meeting: 1)After the meeting was declared open, Mr.Mike Hillman, Chairman of the Council made a report on the work and activities of the society, which was favored by a lively discussion.Minor revisions and improvements were made before it was finally approved.2)It was congruously decided that an academic quarterly entitled“Studies in Chemistry”will start publication next year, and its first issue will be out in July.All the members are expected to send in contributions.Mr.Stanley Mark was nominated as editor-in chief.He willingly accepted the post and promised to assume his duties as such as soon as possible.3)All the participants agreed to run a short-term class to train students’ professional knowledges and technique next summer.Miss Sophia Strong was appointed as admission officer.4)The meeting suggested inviting scholars and experts to give academic lectures so as to stimulate the exchange and expression of technique and experience.Mr.Mitchell was out in charge of this task.5)At the meeting an election was held, in which a new executive body was produced.Mr.Alexander was elected the new chairman.His term of office will begin on June 1, next year.His election was announced with warm applause.He made a brief speech to thank the participants and promised to do a good job at post.All the participants thanked with warm applause.Mr.Hillman, the current chairmen, for his outstanding service for the society.6)Mr.Alexander, the chairman-elect, announced that a general membership meeting will be held on June 10,next year, when he is expected to proclaim his working program.7)The meeting adopted a decision to recruit new members.8)The meeting adjourned at 10 a.m.Donna Rayn(Secretary)Mike Hillman(Chairman)
