当大家倾情于奥巴马出色的演讲才能时,作为一位英语教育工作者,不得不关注中学生英语演讲能力的现状。《高中英语新课程标准》指出“根据高中学生认知特点和学习发展需要,在进一步发展学生基本语言运用能力的同时,着重提高学生用英语获取信息、处理信息、分析和解决问题的能力;逐步培养学生用英语进行思维和表达的能力”。[4]近年来,我国中学英语教学,注重了培养学生“听、说、读、写”各方面能力的培养,中学生的英语整体水平有了很大的提高,但是我们仍然发现许多中学生语言交际能力还需提高,尤其缺乏在公众场合讲英语的自信心。这是因为长期我国英语口语教学只重视学生的语言形式的操练,虽然语境教学的导入强化了语言学习和训练的文化环境,但不少学生是为了语言而练语言,不知如何有效推理、运用论据、组织观点、增强语言的说服力,不知如何与听众沟通,运用非语言因素增强感染力,使得语言交际能力训练流于表面化。而当今社会,语言表达能力,特别是演讲能力,已是中学生必备的素质,一方面,演讲能力的提高不仅可以加强中学生英语语言综合能力,而且还能提高英文思辨能力,判断能力和创新能力。另一方面,学生的心理素质,分析问题解决问题的能力得到加强,学生的人文素养也得以提升。因此,如何切实有效的提高中学生英语演讲能力,是每一个英语教育者应积极思考的问题。

3 中学生英语演讲能力的培养

3.1 感悟思维差异

语言是思维的反映,思维是语言差异性的内在原因。做英文演讲时中国学生极易受到汉语思维的影响。演讲的能力往往又取决于思维能力。逻辑思维的锻炼,是提高演讲能力比较关键的一种锻炼。英美人的思维模式是直线型的,在他们的文章中每一主题思想大多是直线型发展。中国人的思维模式是迂回的,呈螺旋型的。这在演讲的结构布局上表现非常明显。英文演讲较之中文演讲结构更加清晰,往往开宗明义,直奔主题,提出问题。论述部分也以事实论据为主,进行层层分析。结尾多为鼓动性的话语。而中文演讲开篇总有长篇谦辞,其主题的出现不像英文演讲明显,甚至含而不露。论述部分多有具主观色彩的渲染之辞,事实论据较之缺乏。而结尾往往是高昂的呼吁和口号。另外在英文演讲的选词造句上还要注意英语重形合、重理性、重个体、重客体、重抽象、重分析的思维特点,以及演讲的态势语折射的文化差异。

设置演讲理论课。教师可结合案例分析,向学生传授英语演讲方面理论知识。让学生对演讲有理性的认识。并且教师还可以亲身示范,让学生具有直观形象的认知演讲。

4 结束语

英语演讲是一门实践性、艺术性、跨文化性较强的活动。对中学生的英语学习提出了较高要求。英语演讲的教学活动的目的并非把每一个学生培养成演说家、辩论家,而是以演讲的方式发展学生英语知识的获取能力、运用能力、分析判断能力、应变能力、交际能力和批判创新能力。正如黄源深教授所言,英文演讲弥补了“思辨缺席”,弥补了传统听说读写译课程单一能力培养的弊端。[6]它符合《高中英语新课程标准》要求,更符合新时期社会对外语人才综合素质的要求。

1.引言

评价理论是马丁在对人际意义进行研究时所建立的一种新的词汇语法框架在实现语言人际功能的过程中，评价发挥着重要的作用根据韩礼德的说法，语言的人际功能指的是一切用于表达社会人际关系的语言使用行为（1973：4 ），人们运用小句中的情态和语态来表达看法，表明人际关系的亲疏。

2012年9月4日，美国第一夫人米歇尔·奥巴马在北卡罗来纳州举行的民主党全国代表大会上发表政治演说，为丈夫的竞选助阵演讲全文贯穿了一种鼓励国民不惧出身、坚持奋斗、积极向上的价值观，讲述了奥巴马身为人子、人夫和人父的责任心，强调她和丈夫来自普通家庭、代表普通民众利益，成功地赢得了听众发自内心的掌声，更被众多分析人士认为是奥巴马获得连任的重要法宝。

2.理论综述

评价理论是对韩礼德创立的系统功能语言学的新发展刘世铸（2007）指出，评价理论研究在解读话语人际意义方面具有重要意义，应用范围不断扩大，在话语分析、翻译研究以及外语教学中有着广阔的应用前景。

本文中提到的评价理论是由语言学家James R.Martin于20世纪90年代创立，其目的是为了“建立一整套评价资源，并将这些资源运用于语篇分析，’（王振华，2001， 14）如今，在话语分析方面，评价理论得到了广泛的应用，其中比较活跃的包括对优秀的文学作品的话语分析、对历史话语的分析（coffin. 2002）、对商业包装话语的分析（蔡虹，2005）等等。评价系统包括三大子系统：介人、态度和级差。其中，“评价的核心是态度”（刘世铸，2007： 15）。根据评价对象的不同，又可将这一子系统次级化：判断用于评价人的性格和行为；情感用于表达人的情感；鉴赏用于评价事物的价值，三者构成了评价资源。

3.语料分析

3.1 介入系统

在使用语言的过程中，说话人或作者要对自己所说或所写的内容承担一定的责任，介人这一概念的提出主要就是为了解决这一问题实现介人主要通过自言和借言两种方式自言指的是语言使用者直接介人说话过程，表达自己的价值和观点；借言则反映了语言使用者对不同观点的容忍态度，使得语言显得相对客观。在演讲的开篇部分，米歇尔就使用了大量以第一人称单数为主语的句式，如：

1）I have seen it in the incredible kindness and warmth that people have shown me and my family，especially our girls.

米歇尔从自身的经历感受出发，直接介人说话过程，历数自己作为第一夫人所眼见的美国社会上下表现出来的美好品质和向上精神，毫不吝音地表达自己对国家、对人民的信仰和感激真挚的言语辅以直抒胸臆的表达方式帮助她在极短的时间内赢得了听众的好感。

然而，在谈到奥巴马在任期间签署实施的各项法规政策时，米歇尔则较多地使用了间接投射的方式，如：

這种处理方式，既告诉了听众奥巴马在制定实施政策过程中考虑的种种人文因素，又显得冷静客观，可以说，做到了笼络人心而人心不察。

3.2态度系统

情感系统是态度系统的核心，用于处理对情绪反应作出解释的语言资源，有积极和消极两类含义，并在程度上有强弱高低之分判断是根据伦理道德规范来对行为进行评价的一种手段，分为社会评判和社会约束两种评判方式鉴赏指的是对事物价值进行评价的语言资料，与美学有较大关联，在含义上有正面和负面之分，主要围绕反应、构成和价值等三个变量展开。本文笔者主要从情感角度来分析米歇尔的演讲演讲者在表达对所叙述的人物、事件和观点态度时，往往选择具有褒贬意义的词汇来传递情感类评价意义如：

He’s the same man who， when our girls were first born， would anxiously check their cribs every few minutes to ensure they were still breathing， proudly showing them off to everyone we knew.

Just like his grandmother，he just keeps getting up and moving forward with patience and wisdom， and courage and grace.

例（3）中的。anxiously和proudly两个副词将奥巴马初为人父的爱女之心展现无遗；例（4）的keeps getting up and moving forward 则表现了奥巴

马承袭祖母精神，不畏改革阻力、毅然前行的高贵品质。

3.3级差系统

“级差系统是对态度介人程度的分级资源”（王振华2001： 19 ），表现为评价语气是强还是弱、是明显还是模糊，下辖语势和聚焦两个次系统语势指的是评价的量和强度，其中，强度可以用于描述品质，也可以用于描述过程，此外，强度还可用于对表可能、倾向、义务等情态进行描述。演讲中的级差资源与态度资源密不可分，往往能对所表述的观点起到加强或减弱的效果如：

He is always ready to listen to good ideas.

例（4）体现的是演讲中的聚焦资源其中的idea，本身并不表示态度，good一词的出现，则为其打上了态度的标签“good ideas”是明显聚焦的一个例子，凸显了奥巴马总统乐于倾听他人意见，又能做到分辨优劣的气度卓识。

结语

笔者运用评价理论对米歇尔·奥巴马2012年发表的助选演讲的分析研究，我们可以总结出米歇尔此次演讲巧妙的运用介人方式从自身角度出发，将自己对美国社会的所见所闻所感、与家人生活相处的点滴与感恩以及丈夫的种种事迹娓娓道来，拉近听众与自己的距离，引发共鸣。演讲中，米歇尔立场态度鲜明，米歇尔选词得当，恰如其分地表现了当事人的可贵品质、表达了其时的情感态度。态度除了通过情感资源表现之外，还可通过级差资源来调整强弱高低。米歇尔在表达情感的关键之处加人的修饰词成了点睛之笔，为整体演讲的效果加分不少。
