Logistics: The process of planning, implementing, and controlling the efficient, effective flow and storage of goods, services, related information from point of origin to point of consumption for the purpose of conforming to customer requirements. It is useful, at this point to consider logistics in the context of business and the economy as a whole. Logistics is an important activity making extensive use of the human and material resources that affects a national economy.

relation to the different market segments;

The total time it takes to complete the manufacture and supply of a product is often known as the logistics lead-time. The difference between the logistics lead-time and that customer’s order cycle time is often known as the lead-time gap.
