环境污染(environment pollution)是指人类直接或间接地向环境排放超过其自净能力的物质或能量，从而使环境的质量降低，对人类的生存与发展、生态系统和财产造成不利影响的现象。具体包括：水污染、大气污染、噪声污染、放射性污染等。

As we all know, the environment around us is getting worse and worse. In some places .we can’t see fish swimming in the river or trees on the hills. Some people even have no clean water to drink.

Recently, a new lifestyle called low carbon life is spreading every corner of our country. The meaningsof low carbonare high energy and no waste. It is such an important project thatI can’t wait to express my ideas on how to promote it.

First, we should set up a no-car day every week in our school. Because cars not only cause serious air pollution but also waste energy. On the no-car day, neither students nor teachers are allowed to drive to school. At the same time, just walk or run. Use our legs and enjoy the fun.

Second, we had better not use plastic bags any more. No one can stand the“white pollution”, so it is wise to use cloth bags which can be used again and again.

One of the most serious problems man is facing is pollution. The poisonous waste may do harm to the things around us. There are a growing number of people who begin to realize the seriousness of this issue.

The environment has been getting worse and worse for many years. We have been upgrading our living standard; meanwhile the environment has been polluted. Even the most developed countries are troubled with environmental issues. In fact, the more developed the country is, the severer the problem has.

In my opinion, the following are feasible and practical. Firstly, we have to raise people’s awareness of environment protection. We all know that environment is so important to ourselves and our future generations. Natural resources have been depleted in an unprecedented scale. It can be said that the development of science can be a gospel and a curse on human race at the same time. It is more than certain that the world is going straight to hell. Climate change comes at an unprecedented rate. We can see all the polar ice sheet melt in our own lifetime. Cities by the sea will be flooded. Summer will get unbearably hot. Almost all the natural resources will be depleted. It is not that world leaders are unaware of this , but because of their greed no one is able to put the interest of the general public and future generations over their own pride. Development sounds an untouchable truth. Anything that comes in its way will be neglected. One thing that we never ponder is that the space and resources on this planet is limited which means that the raw material and space for development is also limited. Now matter how great and intelligent human beings might be, we have our own weakness. The more intelligent a creature is, the more physically vulnerable it is. With the worsening of the living environment, one can rarely predict that how many of us will eventually survive this unprecedented change. It is time for us to think whether we should live in a more environmentally friendly manner so that our offsprings will also have space and resources to live with or we just pamper ourselves to the extreme and forget about our future generation and the human race at large.
