2015年6月,我参加了安徽省阜阳市中考英语书面表达的阅卷工作。通过分析该年中考书面表达情况发现,总体上学生的写作能力不强,存在的主要问题有:要点缺失;语义不连贯;拼写和语法错误;汉语式英语及书写潦草等。在我们平时的教学中,究竟该采取何种教学策略指导学生掌握写作技巧,提高学生的写作能力呢?

一、写作之初,明确标准与评价

造成失分的原因之一是学生不能很好地掌握自己在写作中的强项和弱项,对优秀作文的标准理解有误。究竟什么样的作文才可称之为好作文呢?英国Jacobs(1981)等人设置“以英语为第二语言的作文评分标准”,该标准是最早的分项式评分标准之一,经过多年的检验,成为国际通用的分项式评分标准典范。它包括5个不同比重的维度:1.内容30%;2.结构20%;3.词汇20%;4.语言使用25%;5.写作规范5%。对每个维度的评价又分为四个分数段:优秀、良好、一般、差。如今,中考阅卷的评分标准与该评分典范基本一致。故在实际教学中,不仅教师要坚持贯彻权威作文评价标准,学生也有必要通过评价标准明了一篇优秀习作应该具备的特点。

二、写作之中,指导策略与技巧

即便熟悉优秀作文的标准,仅有好词好句也未必能成好文章,还需要指导学生掌握一定的写作策略和技巧。笔者根据学生写作过程中常出现的问题,总结出四步写作策略,即“三看一审一列三改”。

“三看”是指看写作背景中的题材、人称和时态,这是作文的基础。“一审”是指审要点,要点齐全是优秀作文的关键。此外,写作任务虽有提示点,但并不意味着可以直接翻译提示内容,而是需要在提示点的基础上适度发挥,从而在习作中体现思维新颖性与独特性。“一列”是指列提纲,在把握题材、人称和时态的基础上,根据要点列出提纲,理清写作思路。列提纲时,规划好段落、写出要点内容并且选定连接词和过渡句,使文章逻辑有序、层次分明。“三改”是对全文的润色与修饰。先修改文中的拼写、时态与表达错误,再改换文中一些句式使其多样化,最后誊写。

三、写作之后,加强批阅与指导

批改作文的时候,既要圈出错误点、勾出好词佳句,还可针对具体情况在习作后进行点评。如“Excellent!/Rich in content!/Coherent and organized well!”寥寥数语边会带给学生无穷的写作热情。

除了有效批阅外,进行课堂限时作文也是提高写作教学的有效性的一种指导方式,课堂上即写即改,及时反馈。以这种形式,让学生的思维在作文训练和评改中得到锻炼,由被动接受知识转变为主动探究。针对写作困难的学生,还可以进行面批。

四、写作之余,注重输入和积累

1. 回归课本,关注语篇。

人教版这套教材十分注重语篇的安排,教师在分析语篇时,可以设计一些训练,比如,把打乱段落中心句,给出关键词,让学生重新排列,使其体会文章是如何谋篇布局的。此外,坚持“句、段、篇”的训练,能有效地增强学生语篇的谋划能力和句法的熟练程度。

2. 背诵范文,佳句摘录。

众所周知,熟读唐诗三百首,不会写诗也会吟。对于英语写作,背诵范文同样是最有效的途径之一。平时可以引导学生多诵读课本中的优秀课文,使学生在反复的诵读中理解并提高英语表达的能力;还可通过积累好词好句、摘录谚语名言,让学生学会润色文章。

3. 加强阅读,丰富词汇。

要想写出好文章,就必须进行大量的阅读。教师要鼓励学生博览群书,扩大知识面。同时引导其找出段落中心句、总结概括文章,通过阅读分析提升学生的写作能力。遇到精彩段落亦可要求学生背诵,既能有效地减少写作时的表达错误,又能给文章增色添彩。

4. 归纳知识,完善表达。

指导学生归纳已学知识点,使之形成知识系统,也是必不可少的。只有这样,在写作过程中,才能表达准确、运用自如。比如,初中写作中常用连接词有:(表顺序)first,second,last;(表补充)what’s more,besides;(表转折)however;(表因果)because,as a result;(表总结)in a word等。此外,还可鼓励学生使用高级句型,如:

(1)定语从句:The boy who wears a blue coat is my friend.

(2)状语从句:If you study hard,you will make pogress.

(3)动名词做主语:Eating vegetables is good for our health.

(4)倒装句:Only in this way can we live a better life.

五、结束语

学生英语写作水平的提升过程是一个漫长而艰辛的过程,同时又是一项富有创造性的教学活动。除了鼓励学生多进行英语写作知识的学习和训练之外,更要精心钻研英语写作教学策略和对学生有效的指导方法。当学生明白在写作过程中不仅要有“苦功”,而且应有“巧功”时,学生才能真正成为自主的学习者。同时,通过师生合作搭建写作支架,不仅帮助学生巩固所学知识,掌握写作技巧,促进语言发展,更使其成为一个能够独立分析和思考问题的人。

2006年6月和2007年6月的四级写作也曾考查过告示,分别是招募志愿者的告示和社团招新的海报。2010年考研英语(一)小作文也曾考查过招募志愿者的告示。今年英语(二)小作文即来自于2006年6月四级写作和2010年考研英语(一)小作文,几乎可以算作原题重考。

2 写作方法

在写作告示时,考生应该注意告示的写作格式。首先,考生应在第一行中央写标题,如果不知道写什么标题,可以直接写Notice。其次,考生可以在标题右下方写日期,格式为“月+日+年”。接着,考生开始写正文部分,可以写1~3段,时态以现在时与将来时为主。最后,考生在正文的右下方写落款,可以落款为The Students’ Union,千万不要写自己的真实姓名或校名。

考生在写正文时,第一段主要介绍写作目的,应包含告示的五大要素:活动目的、主办方、活动内容、地点和时间。第二段按题目的提纲要求具体说明夏令营的活动。第三段同样按照题目的提纲要求来写,即招募志愿者,并说明报名时间和地点。
