(一) 学生英语作文写作现状。

以前中学生学习英语, 是动笔不动口, 造成写的能力强, 但听说能力差, 出现了“哑巴英语”的现象;而经过一番轰轰烈烈的新课程改革后, 很多学生的口语能力得到提高, 但动笔能力不尽如人意, 出现了“君子英语”的现象。

要想让写的能力与读的能力均衡发展, 学习英语写作是解决这一问题的很好的途径。英语写作是中考的压轴戏, 是四种语言基本能力之一, 也是新课程的五级目标 (能根据提示起草和修改小作文) 所要求的。

(二) 英语作文教学现状及成因。

长期以来, 如何有效地进行英语写作教学一直困扰着广大英语教师。“教师布置作文题目或提供材料—教师讲解分析—学生写作—教师批改打分”是传统的写作教学模式。 在这样的过程中, 教师占据主导地位, 学生相当被动。广大教师任务繁重, 埋头批改学生作文中出现的语法、词汇等细节性错误。而学生在拿到作文后, 往往是瞄一眼分数, 便塞进抽屉不管了。可见学生缺乏写作的积极性和主动性, 甚至出现了学生听到写作文就头疼, 教师碰到批作文就心烦的情况。

写作难、怕写作成了许多学生的头痛病, 这种传统的写作教学急需改革。新的课程理念倡导以学生的学为中心, 要求教师引导学生积极主动地学习, 变被动接受为主动学习, 为他们的终身语言学习打下基础。Nuran (1991) 指出这种把重点放在写作结果上的教学法是成果教学法 (Product Approach) 。它的弊端是教学以教师为中心, 整个教学过程完全处于教师的支配之下, 学生完全没有创作的自由, 写作过程枯燥乏味;教师的主要精力也只放在作文的批改上。教师对学生写作过程不了解, 学生对自己在智力活动中存在的问题不清楚, 导致写作时语言错误多, 离题, 条理不清, 自我完善意识差等问题。久而久之, 便降低了学生原有的写作兴趣。

二、解决问题的策略研究

更新写作教学观念、优化写作教学过程是解决问题的关键。

激发并促进学生写作兴趣的形成, 从而使学生掌握有效的写作策略, 提高写作水平。建构主义学习理论主张以学生为中心, 强调学生对知识的主动探索、主动发现和对所学知识意义的主动建构, 认为知识只不过是人们对客观世界的一种解释或假设, 不是通过教师传授得到的, 而是学习者在一定情境下, 借助他人 (包括教师和学习伙伴) 帮助, 利用必要的学习资料, 通过意义建构的方式获得的。因此, 在整个英语作文的教学过程中, 要充分尊重每一位学生, 让每一位学生都投入到作文中, 尽自己的一份力量, 体验写作的每一个细节。

笔者将整个英语写作的教学过程分为四个步骤, 下面以公园该不该收门票为主题写的一篇文章为例:

作为健身和休闲场所的公园, 其门票的收与不收, 社会上议论颇多。请你根据下表中所提供的信息, 给报社写一封信, 客观地介绍讨论情况 (假如你叫Tom) 。

(一) 分组分工, 形成初稿。

合理的分组分工可以提高学习成效并更快地实现教学目标。平时学生的作文主要存在以下几个问题:1.审题问题:部分学生没有把好审题关, 往往见卷就动笔, 以致偏题。2.语言问题:如拼写错误、习语错误、词法语法错误、冗长累赘、中式英语等。3.连贯性问题:不少文章前言不搭后语, 语义不够连贯, 缺乏基本的过渡性词语, 逻辑性不强。针对以上问题, 教师应从内容的完整性、语言的准确得体性、行文的逻辑性三方面训练提高学生的表达能力。基于此, 在过程写作中对学生进行了如下分组:

作文前, 将全班分成若干组, 每四人为一小组 (学生a, b, c, d) , 并合理分配任务 , 确保每位组员都能担任一个角色 , 各司其职, 以调动每个成员的主观能动性。其中学生a负责“审”, 即审题:审体裁, 审格式, 审时态, 审人称。学生b负责“列”:学生b在学生a认真审题、弄清题意的基础上, 逐个完整地把内容要点用英语短语或词组列出来, 并根据题目要求列出几个层次。学生c负责“展”:在题材明确、信息全面、要点清晰、层次分明的基础上, 根据重点词汇的句法功能和句子的语法规则, 将学生b的所列要点扩展成句子。学生d负责“合”:添加适当的连接词和过渡句, 将学生c所写的零散的句子合起来, 形成主谓一致、时态呼应、脉络分明、 合乎逻辑、内容完整的初稿 (DRAFTl) 。下面以“我爱写作”小组的合作实稿为例:

学生a“审题”。此篇作文要求写一篇评论文章, 属于议论文范畴。文章的时态基调应为一般现在时态。

学生b“列要点”。短文主题为“whether an entrance fee should be charged”。根据提示, 可组织三个层次和拟出可能要使用的如下词组、短语。

should be free of charge, low fees should be charged.

a place where people can rest and relax, pay for gardeners.

build a gate and walls, buy new flowers and trees.

学生c“扩展成句”。学生c根据重点词汇的句法功能、句子的语法规则, 将学生b的所列要点扩展成句子。

The park is a place where people can rest and enjoy them- selves.You need to pay for the gardeners.

If fees are charged, it will become a necessary to build a gate and walls.If fees are not charged, you will have no money to buy new trees and flowers.

学生d“合句成篇”。添加适当的连接词和过渡句, 将学生c所写的零散的句子合起来。Because people need a place where they can rest and relax.Charging entrance fees will no doubt keep some people away.What’s more, it will become necessary to build a gate and walls...黑体字为添加的连接词。其他部分以此为例, 形成一篇初稿。

(二) 自评互评, 形成二稿。

初稿完成后, 主要任务是评价与修改。评价与修改是让学生有机会对自己的作品进行再思考、再升华, 是真正提高写作能力的有效途径。传统写作教学中的评价与修改往往是教师的专利, 学生对自己的作品没有反思的余地。有的教师对学生的作文逐字逐句批改, 不仅费时、耗力, 而且收效不大。而在该环节中, 学生评价作文采用组内自评和小组间互评的方式, 使学生既是作者, 又是读者和完善者, 并在评价与修改中提高能力和成就感。这不仅锻炼了学生把握写作的能力, 而且有效防止了学生为写作而写作, 以致最终丧失兴趣的问题。鉴于学生缺乏经验, 所以在自评与互评前, 教师给出修改评价标准 (按先后顺序) :①审视文章的内容和结构。要求覆盖题目所要求的内容要点。句子结构要遵循英语句式要求, 不能按汉语思维或习惯拼凑中国式英语。上下文要连贯, 使用适当的连接词, 使全文结构紧凑。②对段落和句子两个层次进行修改。③注意标点符号、大小写、单词拼写、书写、词数等细小问题。④是否应用了较多的词汇和语法结构。

组内自评是根据作文的评价标准, 小组成员对本组作文的切题性、要点的完整性、表达的准确性和行文的流畅性等方面进行分析和修改, 集组内各成员的力量, 将作文提升到一个较高的层次。

组间互评是相邻小组间相互交换自评后的初稿, 各组 (通常是两组) 负责同一写作任务的学生相互交流心得。这样, 学生接触到同伴的反馈, 进一步提高写作的认识。例如:“第一小组自评修改后的DRAFTl和第二小组修改后的DRAFT1相互交换。讨论中, 第一小组的学生a和第二小组的学生a相互交流并修改, 这两组的其他三位学生做法同此。在学生互评的过程中, 教师给出适当的指导。互评结束后, 每组学生根据互评的结果, 讨论修改后产出二稿 (DRAFT2) 上交给教师。这样可以使学生的评改意见有意义, 学生不至于失去对自评互评的热情与兴趣。

(三) 师评定终稿。

由于部分学生英语水平较低, 不能对自己和他人的作文给出有效评价, 或评价不合理, 因此教师必须对学生的作文给出评定, 即师评。教师可从审题、语言、语篇三个方面对学生的作文进行评价并给出有效评语。学生在教师评价的基础上, 再进行修改整理, 由每组的学生a将最终产出的作文工整地誊写在作文本上并上交。与此同时, 教师可以收集学生的错句, 让学生进行单句改错练习, 或者找出代表性的文章, 进行短文改错练习。对最佳范文可装订成册, 供学生评析欣赏, 发挥优秀作文的带动性。

(四) 角色互换, 体验成长。

继一篇作文完成之后, 再给出三篇作文材料, 小组中a, b, c, d四位学生互相交换所承担的任务, 使每位学生都在“审、列、展、合”四个步骤中体会到写作的乐趣, 在合作与交流中提高自己的作文水平。

三、过程写作的成效

在写作过程中, 学生既是作者又是读者, 他们相互批改, 既是对教师反馈的补充, 又能促进互助学习, 促进彼此的水平同时提高。学生通过分工合作进行写作, 作文较之以前仅凭个人能力有很大进步。学生所写的文章内容丰富, 要点齐全, 还注意使用了长句、复合句等句式, 使语言更加生动;文章的结构也有很大改善, 层次更为清晰。在写作中, 学生注意使用了连接词和过渡句, 从而使文章衔接自然流畅;书写更加漂亮, 卷面更加干净整洁。这种做法大大提高了学生学习英语和使用英语的积极性, 学生分工合作, 各司其职, 以主人翁的态度融入到活动中, 从而让他们感受到责任、快乐和成就感。

提高学生的写作能力, 是一个循序渐进、螺旋上升的过程。在写作教学过程中, 教师扮演的角色应是学生的交流合作者、管理引导者、心理辅导员、帮促者和评价者。只要教师勇于进取, 提高自身钻研大纲、驾驭教材的能力, 通过多渠道多形式的教学方式, 培养学生学习和运用英语的兴趣与能力, 就一定能大大提高初中学生的英语写作能力。

摘要:根据英语新课标的要求, 英语写作能力是初中生应具备的一项基本技能, 而英语作文教学的低效是长期困扰英语教师的一个问题。本文从建构主义理论出发, 以学生为主体, 通过分组分工, 形成初稿;自评互评, 形成二稿;师评定终稿;角色互换, 体验成长四个步骤, 将英语作文教学过程化, 充分调动学生的主动性, 收到了良好效果。

相对于全篇幅写作,“微作文”倡导微小写作。以“微作文”构建的写作课程具有短小、及时、集中攻关、主题鲜明的教学特点。所以,将“微作文”写作作为高中写作课的一部分,在日常的教学实践中形成若干“微作文”写作的教学样式,可以有效构建学生的写作能力和思维习惯。

一、“以读导写”形成写作能力

“以读导写”是在读写结合这一教学原则的指导下,将阅读教学中涉及的文本进行的写作课程开发。高中阶段,可资利用的文本包括教材内的课文、配套读本的优秀篇目、教师指导下的课外阅读篇目及语文选修课材料等。在“导写”的过程中,教师可将同专题、同文体的文本作为编制“微作文”课程的对象,提炼写作训练的重点,培养学生系统化的写作能力。

苏教版必修一有“月是故乡明”这一文本研习专题,五篇名家名作在思乡这个主题下,写作角度和思想侧重各有不同,教师根据这种差异可提炼“微作文”立意,指导学生写作片段作文。如老舍的《想北平》中对北平的风物有细致传神的描写,可据此引导学生描写故乡的风土人情,锻炼观察生活并恰当表达的能力。又如柯灵的《乡土情结》中引用了大量古典诗词,可借此引导学生摘选有关思乡的诗词并参照课文写一段解读所选诗句的微作文,借此培养学生理解诗句和运用诗词入文的能力。

高中语文教材中的小说文本数量有限,教师可利用每次小说阅读的教学契机,拟定不同的记叙文写作能力主题,通过“微作文”加以训练。如鲁迅的《祝福》中以对祥林嫂的三次肖像描写和对人物的外貌、神态和境遇的准确表达,勾连起人物的坎坷命运,据此可以设题:以自己某次考试的“考前复习”“考场应试”和“考后期待”为情景,写三段肖像描写段落,要求体现一定的感情变化。此类“微作文”写作主题实则是充分借鉴小说这一典型的叙事类文体,发展高中生记叙文写作的基础能力。

二、“时事品评”培养思维习惯

当前高中生写作水平的发展所遇到的瓶颈并非素材、写法等显性问题,而是思维发展滞后导致的写作思想性缺失、肤浅和低幼化等隐性问题。许多语文教师在教学实践中常常要求学生摘抄时事素材或写作时事点评,这一做法能较好地引导学生关注、思考各类社会现象,并养成积极思维的习惯和深入思考的能力。如果将这种做法提高到“微作文”写作课程的认识高度,并规范其教学行为,将对学生思维习惯的培养起到更大的推动作用。

写作前要有主动预设。“时事品评”类微作文的主题、文题及内容字数等在写作前由教师做出指导性安排。主题要由教师从近期的时事热点中选择思辨性强的素材,教师可以向学生介绍所选时事的详情,也可以表达个人观点或介绍相关时评文章以启发思考。文题要求直接表达观点,不求表述全面,但是要有新意和深度。正文部分不超过四百字,分为三个段落。首段百字左右,简述事件引入观点;次段为微作文主体,二百五十字为宜,理据结合论证观点;尾段五十字左右,要求总结要有启发性和拓展意义。

写作后根据学情讲评。“时事品评”类微作文的事后讲评是决定写作是否能起到培养学生思维习惯的重要教学环节。教师从学生习作中甄选出差异性较大的不同论述角度和观点的优良微作文,并从观点的新意、论证的深度、语言表达的逻辑等角度进行点评,提出针对性的文章升格建议。笔者曾指导学生就“AlphaGo战胜李世乭”一事写作“时事品评”微作文,学生习作中表现出了多样的观点,如“机器智能将促进人类智能的进化”“人类必须为未来社会建设机器伦理”“AlphaGo的出现预示着新工业革命的到来”等,将代表性习作中的启发性观点和逻辑严密的论证过程面向全体学生分析讲评,能起到很好的示范和引导作用。

三、“应试训练”强化写作技巧

高中阶段尤其是高三年级的应试压力始终存在,教师可以应用“微作文”创建应试写作的“微专题”,重点培养考场作文需要的写作技巧,解决考试中临门一脚的问题。“应试训练”应根据学情,选择学生作文中的痛点,组织专题性的知识、技巧和案例等,并通过“微作文”的形式进行训练。

如在议论文的写作中,学生往往对局部论段的写作逻辑不甚明了,有的偏重叙述例证,有的偏重议论分析,虽说文无定法,但是有理有据的规范写法往往能表达出更好的写作思路。据此,可以用“五步法”的段落写作技巧构建“微作文”专题。具体的理论内容是,一个标准的议论段由五步组成:第一步,观点句,即本段的分论点;第二步,阐释句,阐释观点句并过渡;第三步,材料句,即例证;第四步,分析句,结合例证,立足分论点,进行分析说理;第五步,结论句,本段小结,呼应强调分论点。

介绍了“五步法”的基本理论后,通用典型的议论段例子分析其如何具体运用,并研究如何由此方法衍生出更为灵活的段落写法。最后课堂练笔,如设题:以“善用人才是成功的有力保障”为分论点,进行议论段写作,字数三百左右。练笔后教师在学生习作中选择“五步法”的规范写法及部分灵活的写法变体案例进行分析指导。

“以读导写”侧重形成写作的基本能力,“时事品评”培养更本质的写作思维,而“应试训练”能弥合写作素养和考试的鸿沟。“微作文”的这些教学样式还需要在高中写作教学的实践中不断磨砺,验证其有效性,优化其操作性,使其成为能配合传统写作课的写作课程新模式。

应用文写作(小作文)

第一节命题分析

应用文写作是2005年大纲修订之后出现的新题型,主要考查学生在某些特定的日常情境中英文的实际应用能力。相对于大作文来说,应用文的写作还是比较容易完成的。但是在大约15分钟内按照题意写出100词的短文,考生不仅要能够恰当地根据给定情境迅速成文,而且也要有较高的语言能力。因此,在平时的准备过程中,考生应全面了解和掌握各种常见应用文体的写作格式、方法和特点,尤其是要熟悉各类文体的基本结构和常用句型。大纲中规定的应用文文体的种类包括私人和公务信函、备忘录、摘要、报告等。鉴于考试的要求和实际情况,文章的长度以及文体应用的广泛程度,我们认为应用文写作主要分为两大类:信函类应用文和告示类应用文。其中信函类应用文种类繁多、应用广泛,因此比较重要;告示类应用文虽然写法不同,但总体上的格式和要求是一致的,不能忽略其重要性。另外,应用文写作也有可能出现在平时的生活中,考生也要学会实际运用。

应用文的实际用途决定了其语言应简洁明了,但并不要求复杂多变、词藻华丽。应用文一般需要开门见山,一开始就明确地表达主要意思或目的;文章要求思路清晰,目标明确,语气恰当;尤其是公文信函中,一定要注意语言的正式和礼貌,遵循交际原则;最后还要注意细节,确保事件、数字、日期等信息的准确传达和标点符号的正确使用。

第二节题型解析

一、信函类应用文

书信是我们用以交涉事务、增进了解、交流思想、联络感情的一个重要工具。就其文体可分为正式和非正式的文体;就其种类可分为私人信件、社交信件、商务信件和公务信件;就其用途可分为求职信、咨询信、感谢信、投诉信、建议信、邀请信、推荐信等。这里先就书信的一般写作格式加以介绍。

一封正规的英文书信的结构或框架由以下五部分组成:

1.The Heading 信端

2.The Salutation 称谓

3.The Body 正文

4.The Close 结尾

5.The Signature 签名

下面分别对这五个部分进行详细的分析:

1.信端(或信头)

信端是写信是最先要写的,也就是你的地址和写信日期。当然,如果你的长期通信地址收信人已知道,信端只写日期也行。

写信端时至少要离纸的边缘三、四行开始写,信端写在信纸右上角。先写发信人地址,第一行写门牌号码和街道名称;第二行写区名、市(县)名、省(州)名;寄往国外的信,还要加上国家的名称;第三行写发信日期。

日期的写法应注意以下几点:

(1)年份应写完整,不能以09代替2009;

(2)月份通常用缩写形式(May, June, July除外);

(3)日期最好用基数词,这样简单明了;

(4)如果都用阿拉伯数字,一般顺序是:日、月、年。

整个日期可用下列几种表达方式:

注意:日期与年份之间总要用逗号隔开,但月份与日期之间不用逗号(全用阿拉伯数字除外)。

2.称谓

信的称谓是对收信人的尊称语。一般在信纸的左边顶格开始书写,低于信内地址一、二行;如果没有信内地址,就低与信端一、二行。

不管写给何人的信都首先写上Dear。给一般朋友的信,Dear 后跟名字,如Dear Mary;给母亲的信,Dear 后跟称谓,如 Dear Mother;给长辈亲戚的信,Dear 后跟称谓,如 Dear Uncle John;给不太相识的人写信,Dear后跟先生、夫人、小姐等称呼,再跟姓,如 Dear Mr.Brown, Dear Miss Jenny;如果不知对方姓名,可直接写 Dear Sir或 Dear Madam,如连对方的性别都不知道,就写 Dear Sir/Madam。

千万不要根据汉语的习惯用下列称呼,如 Dear Friend, Mr.Frank Smith等。称呼后一般用逗号,但美国和加拿大英语常用冒号。

3.正文

信的正文是一封信最重要的部分,它包含你要说的话或你的个人信息等。

信的正文在称呼的下面一行,一般在信纸左边五六个字母的空隙后开始写。写正文时,如果涉及的事务较多,可以分段叙述。每段开头都要留空格,每句第一个字母都应大写。信的正文应简明扼要,条理清楚,语言通俗易懂。信的开头语和结束语多种多样。常见的开头语有:

信的结尾即在签名前再一次表示敬意和问候。信的结尾写在低于正文两、三行的地方,大都从信纸中间偏右的位置写起,只第一个字母大写,句末应用逗号。确切的措辞取决于书信的种类以及与收信人的友谊深浅和亲昵程度。如果写给一般相识,就不应用“Devoutly yours,”或者“With deepest affection,”也不要用冷漠和正式的 “Very truly yours,”写给一位很喜欢的老相识,结尾既不要过分使用华丽辞藻,也不可粗鲁无礼,而是要恰到好处的用词。

5.签名

写信人将自己的名字签在结尾的下面,偏向信纸的右边,名字签完一般要靠近右边边缘。签名时要注意名字的拼法:一是不要带有任何头衔,二是中国人的姓名若是两个汉字的名字,其拼音的首字母都要大写,如 “Li Ming”(而现在最流行的写法是姓氏的字母全都要大写,如LI Ming, 以便让人区别姓氏与名字);若是三个字的名字则第一、二个拼音字母大写,第三个与第二个无间隔首字母小写,如: “Liu Xiaoming”。
