乡镇中学学生大都来自周边的农村小学,农村中小学英语教学因受多种因素的影响,明显存在教学衔接难的问题。对于农村中小学英语教学的衔接既是中小学英语教学研究中的热点问题,也使我们这些乡镇中学英语老师大伤脑筋,倍感农村初中英语入门教学难。笔者多次任教七年级英语科, 看到有相当一部分小学生进入初中在英语教学衔接方面出了问题,深切体会到他们对初中英语阶段的学习有很多的不适应,甚至失去学习的兴趣。笔者现结合自己的英语教学实践经验,对乡镇的中小学英语教学衔接难的原因进行分析,对合理可行的英语教学衔接策略进行探讨。

一、乡镇中学七年级英语教学衔接问题的表现

1 . 学生英语基础层次不齐,中小英语衔接点难以把握。刚入学的七年级新生,有的26个字母还认不全,单词不会读;有的对英语课堂教学中本人常用的“Listen to me.”“Answer the question.”等常用课堂用语听不懂,没反馈。而有的学生则听读能力有了一定的基础,课堂参与没有障碍,只是语法知识点有些模糊。上课时,基础好的学生觉得内容太简单,因而坐不住;没学过英语的学生却倍感吃力,学习积极性受挫。同是新生,英语成绩却大相径庭学生的英语从刚入学就出现分化。英语水平参差不齐让老师们感觉中小英语衔接点难以把握。

2.学生普遍感觉学习容量太大,学习兴趣减弱。升入初中后的英语入门学习和随之而来的单元检测和月考成绩,令一大部分学生的英语学习信心跌入谷底,倍感学好初中英语的难度大,继而产生消极的英语学习情绪。部分同学学习英语的兴趣减弱,对老师预习、复习安排不配合,作业完成马虎。一些农村的孩子没有足够的学习动力,没有足够的学习氛围,课余时间他们比较懒散,无所事事,甚至出现有少数同学传播学习英语“无用论”的论调,不利于对良好的学习气氛的建立。

3.教学任务与学生学习习惯难以协调一致。七年级新生在学习英语的方式方法上往往还停留在小学阶段的水平,许多学生做不到课前预习,课中认真跟读模仿,课后复习及完成作业、补缺补差。大多学生只做书面作业,而对朗读背诵、对话练习等作业则放置一边,认为无足轻重。面对进入初中阶段大量词汇学习,有些同学没能做到按拼读规则记单词,只是按字母来死记硬背,甚至有同学用音译汉字来记发音。一部分学生自主学习的能力很缺乏,没有养成良好的学习习惯。

二、乡镇中学七年级英语教学衔接难问题的原因

1.中小学教学内容和教学要求的不同。小学英语教学内容主要是一些常见的词汇、简单的句子和少量的语法知识。小学英语教学主要是培养学生听说方面的能力。小学课堂容量少,侧重听、说、读和浅层的理解,让学生学习一些常见的词汇,简单的句子和少量的语法知识,思维难度不大,经过机械操练得以巩固。

到了初中,教学内容逐渐复杂,词汇、句型、语法等增多,难度也随之增大。初中不仅要求听说领先,而且要读写跟上,课堂容量大大增加。中学的英语学习以理性思维方式为主,课堂知识容量大,加上学生在初中阶段学习的科目增大,各科教学进度明显比小学时快,而他们难以合理安排学习时间,不适应初中阶段的学习。

2.中小学生心理发展存在差异。小学生在进入中学后, 他们的心理上会产生系列变化。他们觉得自己已经长大,做事常常仿照大人的方式并希望引起别人的注意;好奇心强, 但处理问题不当,往往草率片面;对学习困难估计不足,不能持之以恒。小学生虽然有一定的思维能力,但不成熟,中学生的思维能力处于发展变化阶段。小学生对学习的需求容易满足,而中学生则不容易满足,他们的学习要求远比小学生要高。因此学生在心理发展方面实现良好地过渡,中小学英语教学才能更好衔接。

3.乡镇中小学对英语科目重视程度存在较大差异。相比较对小学语文、数学等主科目的重视程度来讲,小学阶段无论从学校还是家长、学生,对英语科目学习的重视程度还是很不够。在很多农村学生家长的眼中,小学英语不像语文和数学那样重要,上初中后再从头学起也不迟。且不论小学英语师资和硬件设备条件的对英语学习的限制,由于农村学生的家长由于文化程度有限,基本上做不到在英语这门外语科目上给予重视和辅导。初中阶段因为英语作为中考主要科目来考核,学校家长当然高度重视。

三、搞好七年级英语教学衔接问题策略探讨

1.熟悉学生英语学习现有水平,因材施教。在开始七年级新生英语课程教学前,教师应抽时间大体了解学生现有的英语水平,以便找准中小学英语教学衔接点。针对学生在小学阶段的英语学习情况,教师可适当调整自己的教学进度, 改变教学侧重点,给予不同英语学习基础的学生不同的指导帮助。

对学生要逐一了解他们听说读写方面的目标要求是否过关,对其中英语字母、单词发音不准,书写不规范的学生一定要花时间、精力帮助他们努力更正过来,而对小学时英语听说读写已基本过关的学生,教师应指引他们朝更高英语学习目标前进,努力将他们培养成教师的英语教学小助手,让他们协助指导、帮助基础差的学生。

由于学生的基础不一,层次不齐,教师可根据学生们的具体情况课上采用分层教学,贯彻素质教育的因材施教的原则,让不同的学生在课堂上有不同程度的收获,满足他们的表现欲,使每个人都有成功感。同时将教学的形成性评价应用于课堂,对学生的点滴进步及时肯定、表扬。教师在设置教学任务时要注意避免压制学生的学习兴趣及损害学生的学习积极性,应该正确估计学生的能力,给学生布置难度适宜的任务,让学生品尝到经过努力耕耘后获得的那份成功的喜悦,这种成就感会激励学生取得更大的成功。这些对培养学生的学习兴趣、并使之逐渐形成稳定的学习动机起到促进作用。

2.适当调整起始教学内容和进度。在外研版七年级上册《STARTER》英语衔接教材中,大多是对小学阶段所学的主要知识进行归纳、总结,对学生进行系统地复习,巩固。只是按部就班地按教材顺序教学就会让学生没有新鲜感,时间紧(只有一个月),任务重,很难很好地完成教学任务,也很难引起学生的兴趣。所以,笔者在仔细地研读教材后对内容进行了调整,将其相关的重点内容以话题的形式组合在一起,以各种形式反复操练。

例如,把《STARTER》的Module 1 My teacher and my friends与Module 4 My everyday life整合起来,出示一张全家福照片:This is a photo of my family.This is my son.He is ten years old.He likes playing basketball.His favourite season is summer because he can go swimming from Monday to Sunday. 3.进行学生学法指导,消除英语学习上的迷茫无序。与小学阶段的学习任务和要求不同,七年级新生更需要进行初中英语的学习方法和策略的指导。因此在七年级起始阶段, 教师应把培养学生正确的学习方法作为重点,使学生在较短的时间内能较好地进行预习、听课、做笔记、复习、作业和测试等,以适应中学学习的要求,并尽快找到适合自己的学习方法,养成良好的学习习惯。

教师要教会学生预习时把不认识的句子、不会读的单词及发音标记下来,找时间向别人请教或者在课堂上注意听老师讲解,这样学生课前能把新旧知识串联在一起,学生的课堂学习将会事半功倍,收到良好的学习效果。

教师要教会学生在课堂上如何听,培养学生良好的听的习惯。教会学生认真的听,专心的听,注意老师的发音、口形,听懂教师说的内容。培养学生认真听老师或者录音里面的示范发音,用心地去听和揣摩他人说的英语内容。只有听得清,听得懂,才能说得准、说得好,用心地多听、多模仿,才能培养自己对英语反应的敏捷性。

教师要培养学生两个“读”的习惯:第一,朗读习惯。英语是一门语言,要想学好英语,朗读是最传统、最有效的学习方法之一。朗读可帮助学生记忆和积累词汇,培养语感。教师要严格要求并督促学生进行英语早自习朗读和英语课堂朗读,培养学生要养成良好的朗读习惯。第二,阅读习惯。教师要结合英语课本中的文章,指导学生逐步掌握英语阅读技巧,让学生养成良好的阅读习惯。

教师要严格要求学生课后及时复习,反复记忆,及时强化,并严格监督学生将所学复习巩固到位,以达到减少遗忘的效果,保证学生顺利通过初中英语入门学习关,步入初中英语学习的正轨,不断发展自己听说读写的综合英语技能, 积累英语语感和知识,提高英语学习质量。

4.对学生进行心理疏导。学生从小学进入初中,是他们学生生活中的一个重要转折,很自然会产生种种不适应,这些不适给他们的学习生活带来一定的影响。这就需要在七年级新学期里给予学生一个过渡期。在这个过渡期里,在教学过程中学校和教师不妨把他们当作小学生,仍沿用一些小学的教育、教学方式和方法,避免七年级学生陡然产生陌生和不适应的感觉,然后才逐渐过渡到中学的方式、方法。

教师在七年级新生入学之初就要让学生充分认识初中英语教材,把学生英语学习心理工作做透,卸掉学生英语学习的压力和恐慌,这要求教师在英语教学过程中努力创设贴近学生生活实际的英语学习情境,营造轻松愉快的英语学习氛围,让学生真正体会到英语学习的快乐,乐于去学习英语, 学好英语。
