一、环保面临的严峻挑战

人类的生存环境受到了极大的破坏,世界环保正面临着十大严峻挑战:全球气候变暖、臭氧层的耗损与破坏、生物多样性减少、酸雨蔓延、森林锐减、土地荒漠化、大气污染、水污染、海洋污染等。这在我们的新课标教材中每个模块都涉及到了这个话题。因此,通过英语课程,从情感态度与文化意识入手,在教学过程中渗透环保教育,使学生增强环保意识,拓展国际视野,培养世界公民。这也是英语教学的要求。作为英语教师,我认为,对学生进行环保教育,要联系英语教学的具体实际,在教学前三分钟,课堂词汇教学、课文教学、课堂练习、课外活动等教学活动之中都可以进行环保教育,但是不能牵强附会,要适可而止,以避免本末倒置。

二、如何渗透环保教育

1. 教学前的环境保护教育。

我们都是课堂前五分钟进班,看到学生刚擦黑板让学生知道粉尘有污染要提前擦。当我看到教室满地垃圾,我给同学们讲为什么天安门广场国旗升起后最大的广场变成了最大的垃圾场?原因就是人们都乱扔垃圾。当长城上一些老外捡拾垃圾,国人熟视无睹,还嘲笑:有病!我问:“Where is our home?Where do we stay in the world?(哪里是我们的家?哪里有我们立足之地)”。经过教学前短短几分钟,使学生渐渐认识到环保的重要,树立环保意识,从自我做起。

2. 词汇教学中的环境保护教育。

词汇教学是英语教学的重要环节之一,把环保教育贯穿渗透到词汇教学中。如教授environment(环境)这一词时让学生知道这是高考重点词汇,而且环境保护这方面的文章也是高考和时下的热点,需要学生不仅要牢牢掌握这个词还要从我做起保护环境。在讲到extinguish、endanger、reserve等词汇时,使学生认识熊猫是仅生存在中国的濒危动物之一,我国特别重视其保护,设立了专门的保护区。从这些词汇教学中,可以教育学生爱护动物,保护生态环境,思考人与动物,人与自然如何和谐相处,共同生存发展等问题。

一、绿色评价孕育兴趣

兴趣是点燃学生学习英语欲望的源泉。在学习新知识的时候,要鼓励和支持学生大胆开口用英语表达,给学生一个支持、宽容、友好的语言学习环境。与母语对比,初学母语的小孩在说话的时候往往会出现许多语法和逻辑上的错误,但我们可以大概明白他要表达的意思。也不会因为说错了话,而遭到大人的责备。营造一种没有压力的语言环境是培养学生学习英语兴趣的根源。

比如:1. 妈妈,困啦,快和他睡觉去吧。(意思是:快和我去睡觉吧。)

2. 妈妈,他打你呀。(意思是:他打我呀。——我、你、他不分)

同样,在英语的学习过程当中,我们的孩子也会出现I, you, he, she, it 不分的情况。

1. He is my mother(father).

2. She is my brother(sister).

同样,我们的孩子在表达英语的时候也会出现类似的错误。

1. He is (no) a student, he is a teacher.

2. My friend is (the) Amy.

我们可以看到小孩子能够自己创造说话的方式,他们通过看和听的感知能力来创造自己独特的表达方式。在英语课堂上,英语教师遇到学生表达出现语法错误时,并不需要打断学生的话语,及时纠正。提高学生的兴趣根源完全在于教师个人的功力。因为吸引学生的课程或学科,即使是该课程或学科本身具有的趣味性很强,它们仍然要通过教授者通过各种方法而被充分的揭示出来。比如多名英语教师,都在用着同一本教材,遵循着同一种课程标准,最后的教学效果却大不一样,除了学生方面的差异之外,更多的就在于教师本身。在英语课堂上,我们所需要的是宽容和耐心,用激励的语言鼓励学生多开口表达英语,用赏识的眼光肯定学生。通过不同方式的绿色评价语言体系,建立学生学习英语的自信和兴趣。

二、绿色课堂激发自主

课堂是学生的课堂,学生是英语学习的主人,要充分发挥学生的主动性、积极性和创造性。同时,要反对教师的“话权主义”,教师和学生之间共同学习、共同探讨知识,教师与学生是“心与心之间的沟通”,而并不只是“输入”的过程。

1. 绿色备课

英语课堂教学是动态生成的过程,这则要求教师在备课时,要考虑课堂中将会产生的“动态与生成”,有“预设”情景的意识。从学生的学习生活角度出发,教授新课前,教师应先检测学生是否有课前预习,预习的内容达到了何种程度。再根据学生的已知知识的实际情况进行授课。比如,在笔者执教的一节词汇课上,学生将要学习一些有关食物的单词:fish,beef,noodles,vegetable,soup等等。为了在教授新课前了解学生是否有做课前预习,这些食物词汇里面,学生大概认识几个词汇。笔者在备课时就设计小组合作的方式,让学生在小组里面讨论自己认识的词汇,从而充分体现以生为本,先学再教的绿色课堂模式。

2. 绿色授课

教师在课堂上不能为了讲解完本节课的备课内容,不顾学生是否掌握知识,忽略课堂上的动态与生成,走马观花般授课。这种课堂看似环节紧凑,但学生却来不及思考,被动地让教师牵着鼻子走,课堂上没有自然知识生成的火花。绿色教授的艺术不在于全盘授予,而在于如何引导。因此,在课堂上,教师应该更多的关注学生,尽量采取问答式的形式授课,随时关注学生对知识理解程度。有意识地设计小组合作、先学后教、以学代教等活动,把话语权交还给学生,使学生真正成为课堂的主人。这样,既突出了学生的主体地位,让学生在参与活动中体会学习知识的成功与喜悦,又实现了教与学互动的绿色课堂。

三、绿色情景生成语感

作为英语学习者,模仿原则是必不可少的。让学生养成模仿的良好习惯,模仿得越像越好,这是英语学习最基本的常识。教师作为一个引导者,应该引导学生体验模仿英语的乐趣,学生才能够说出一口流利有感情的英语。比如,笔者在教授PEP人教版四年级下册Unit3 Is this your skirt?Let’s talk为例,在学习对话之后,教师一般会让学生进行朗读模仿或者表演。与其让学生直接与同桌进行对话表演,要求声音洪亮,不如让学生通过阅读教师设计的情景要求来决定用什么语气来表演。例如,情景描述:Alice找不到自己的裙子,很烦躁,Mike很热心地帮忙寻找,找到裙子之后,Alice表示很高兴。

Alice:Where is my skirt?(很不耐烦地说)

Mike:What colour is it?(热心询问)

Alice:Blue.(很着急地说)

1 绿色教育与英语教学

随着社会经济发展, 行业工作对人才提出了新的素质要求。作为现代社会育人的新方向, 绿色教育是具有可持续发展意识的教育, 通过将这种教育渗透到高等教育的自然技术科学、社会科学和人文科学的教学和实践中去, 就会逐步促成其成为师生基础知识结构以及综合素质的重要组成部分[4]。绿色教育注重培养人的生态价值观与环境伦理, 注重培养正确处理人与自然、人与社会、人与自身关系的能力。

作为一门兼具“工具”和“人文”特质的教学课程, 专业英语不仅强调语言学习, 更注重通过中西行业文化的介绍, 培养学生的综合职业素养。其课程育人目标是“培养专业英语应用能力, 改善学生自主学习方式, 提高职业综合素养”[5]“改善学生自主学习方式”是强调应增强高职专业人才学习能力的可持续培养;“提高职业综合素养”是指将专业人才培养为行业和企业所需求的合格人才。在本次研究中, 关于“综合素养培养”具体为通过专业外语教学, 培养高职人才的科技素养、人文素养和职业道德素养。

2 高职测绘专业学生综合素质现状

为了了解高职专业学生的综合素质, 笔者所在的研究团队, 选择测绘专业作为具体的研究对象。笔者在扬州市职业大学、北京工业职业技术学院、石家庄铁道职业技术学院、辽宁交通高等专科学校4 所学校开展了问卷调查。调查对象包括了工程测量、地图制图与地理信息系统、摄影测量与遥感3 个专业的各年级学生共计450 名。收回有效问卷375 份 (回收率83.33%) , 对回收数据利用SPSS 19开展统计分析。

2.1 科学素养调查分析

关于科学素养的调查, 共涉及12 题。内容包括对测绘行业常规概念和知识理解、测绘类科学知识的学习方法和技巧及测绘科学理论研究等。从问卷统计结果来看, 学生对行业常规概念和知识的认知率较高, 而对日常学习和实习工作接触较少, 需要在课堂以外进行学习拓展的知识就更有限了。如“美国TM影像分辨率与quickbird影像分辨率的差别”“手机RTK的最新发展方向”等问题的答对率相对较低。说明学生对课外知识的获取意识不强, 获取外界知识的渠道仍非常有限。关于学生对测绘类科学知识的学习方法和技巧, 学生能够运用所学的测绘专业知识处理比较简单的行业工作, 但是对如何将专项知识进行组合以解决实际生产问题的能力尚显不足。关于对科学理论的研究, 学生能较客观地认识测绘技术与社会发展的关系, 对测绘技术研究持有正确的态度, 但是关于国外较流行的企业文化, 团队文化等主题的认识非常有限。71.32%的学生在完成调查问卷中明确提出专业教育应加强科学素养教育。

2.2 人文素养调查分析

加强人文素质教育, 是促进人才可持续发展的重要条件。从调查结果来看, 专业人才在人文素质一栏表现不容乐观。如⑴知识结构不合理、文化素养较差。知识面较窄, 审美情趣较低。学生的语言表达和理解能力较差, 项目文件理解不清楚, 工作交流表达不清楚。⑵思维方式单一、综合能力较差。目前高职教育人才培养普遍存在重技术、轻人文, 过于急功近利, 导致学生独立工作能力弱, 思想认识水平低, 社会适应能力、人际交往能力等均较差。⑶知、行“两张皮”。行为处事不具备基本准则, 公德意识淡薄, 缺乏服务意识, 团队合作意识较差。⑷非专业素养低, 容易被工具化。急功近利思想严重, 忽视了人文教育的重要意义。培养出来的专业人才在知识素养、能力结构、思维视野、审美情趣上被“专业化”, 结果误将学生培养成只能满足技术操作的“机器人”。

2.3 职业道德素养调查分析

有关职业道德素养的调查, 围绕职业道德的重要性及养成途径来设计。共涉及16 个问题。综合分析的结果表明:⑴职业道德认知水平较高, 而实践能力较低。绝大多数学生谴责不诚信、不敬业的行为, 崇敬高尚的职业道德。但是由于当下分配的差别化和价值观念的多元化, 高职学生在道德价值观念中也存在很大困惑。⑵有一定的职业道德情感, 但缺乏良好的职业品德意志。学生热爱自己所从事的工作, 具有职业理想, 在工作中具有一定的责任感和荣誉感。但是还未具备积极、主动的学习意志, 在工作过程中还未能做到好、乐、勤。

3 利用大学英语学科优势, 加强绿色素质培养

专业外语教学是高职人才培养的一个重要环节。课程教学以专业外语教学为主, 主要传授专业外语知识点及中外行业文化的认识。课程向学生提供了认识全球行业发展的窗口。充分发挥好专业外语课堂教学的优势, 可以极大地提升学生的绿色专业素质。

1) 做好知识承上启下的衔接, 潜移默化地植入绿色理念

专业外语一般安排在第四个学期, 其知识基础是学生已经系统掌握了专业基础知识及基本外语技能, 学生即将走向社会参与社会实践。这个时间点正是学生由学校教育向社会教育转换的关键期, 教师应帮助学生逐步建立正确的可持续发展观。建立正确的工作目标、养成良好的工作。这一时期是大学生塑造健全人格、提高素质的关键时期。这就要求我们的专业外语教师能在教学中积极引入绿色教育的理念, 融入生态教学知识, 对学生的发展起到潜移默化的作用。

2) 以专业外语课堂教学为载体, 注重绿色意识的内化培育

测绘专业英语课程蕴涵丰富的行业文化, 内容涉及面广, 包括测绘先进知识介绍、国内外优秀测绘工程案例等。笔者与研究团队分析了测绘行业学习需求, 组织编写了《实用测绘专业外语》教材, 全书分为27 个教学单元, 内容涉及英语国家行业工作社会文化知识、国外先进技术介绍、国外工作习惯介绍以及施工合作介绍等。在授课过程中老师注重将绿色教育的理念溶于专业外语文化教学中, 将语言技能的培养同学生绿色素质培养结合起来, 在教学方法上, 注重将知识学习与行业工作紧密联系起来。用绿色发展的理念帮助学生认识测绘行业, 正确思考工作任务, 注重将自然与人文科学内化培育, 将学生培养为具备责任感和使命感的绿色人才。

3) 引入现代教育技术, 扩充强化

行业工作需要借助多媒体信息技术进行展示, 将现代教育手段引入课堂可以更生动的组织教学活动, 既能真实反映学习情境, 又能让学习者体会到语言所反映的行业文化。引入多媒体技术还可以扩充课堂教学容量, 有利于先进文化思想的导入和各种文明之间的比对, 引发文化的比较鉴别, 从而提升学生的审美认知能力。在课程教学中, 我们还选择和剪辑了一些行业介绍短片, 如《卫星影像的发展历程》、《测绘技术与地球伟大工程》等资料短片, 作为课堂教学的扩充资料, 这些资料既可以裁剪为课堂教学使用, 也可以作为学生第二课堂学习的重要素材。

4) 推荐生态阅读, 促进升华

绿色教育的目的是提升学生的可持续学习能力。为了实现这一目的, 专业外语在施教过程中应当注意将知识学习延伸到课堂外。通过大量的阅读, 一方面增加学生专业外语信息的输入, 扩充专业知识, 还能帮助学生开阔视野, 逐步建立起正确的“精神消费观”。在辅导学习过程中, 教师可以有针对性地向学生推荐课外经典绿色阅读书目, 在测绘专业领域, 如《欧美国家测绘史》可以帮助学生建立起对测绘学的正确认识, 了解测绘学发展的演替过程, 明确测绘发展的主流动向。BBC拍摄的Discovery系列纪录片会帮助学生理解人与自然的关系, 有利于在今后的行业工作中形成生态意识。

5) 提高学生对语言的实际运用能力

专业外语的学习, 最直接的目的是增强业务工作中的读、写、说能力。在授课过程中, 教师可以有侧重的选择一些具有绿色营养的教学素材, 通过读、写、说过程的不断磨炼, 逐步掌握专业外语的基本技能, 以便做到学以致用。例如在测绘专业外语教学中, 教师在讲授过程中可多补充些有关测绘技术、先进环保的测绘理念知识, 在学生掌握知识点的同时, 教会他们学习方法, 以便做到活学活用。

4 结语

绿色教育是伴随对现代人才的需求应运而生的, 绿色素质应始终成为现在高职专业人才培养的准则。专业外语施教过程, 具备良好的绿色素质培养优势。教师在组织施教过程中, 应努力开展围绕这一目标的教学改革, 亮化绿色人才培养的育人目标, 合理组织绿色育人的知识体系, 通过潜移默化的过程教学, 逐步实现绿色人才的培养。相信在师生们的共同努力下, 绿色专业人才培养终将硕果累累。

摘要:提出了测绘外语教学对提升学生综合素质的重要意义。将绿色素质具体为科学素养、人文素养及职业道德素养。开展问卷调查, 掌握测绘类高职学生综合素质现状。针对存在问题, 结合绿色教育的核心理念, 重点分析了在测绘专业外语教学中提升学生绿色素质应当注重的教学措施。
