一、引言

Zimmerman &Owen;按演讲目的将演讲归为三类:信息类演讲、劝说类演讲和特殊场合类演讲。信息类演讲是向听众传递某主题的新信息的演讲,以提高听众对该信息的理解和运用程度。劝说类演讲则试图影响听众的价值观、信念、态度和行为,可分为说服性和激励性两种。特殊场合类演讲是在某些特殊场合的致辞,比如开闭幕式、毕业典礼、婚礼、葬礼等等。

随着全球一体化进程的加快,公众英语演讲作为一种有力的交际手段在国际社会交流和合作中的地位也日益上升。人与人之间的交流大多数是信息类的沟通,信息资源的互动在交流中承载着不可或缺的作用。演讲者面对广大听众发表意见,抒发情感,从而感召听众并促使其接受自己的观点。演讲者通过与听众有效地进行互动,能够更好地实现其人际意义。在语篇构建中,介入资源的使用加强了语篇作者和读者之间的互动,为研究信息类演讲语篇中人际意义提供了借鉴。本研究旨在探讨信息类演讲中的介入资源分布频率,并对中国英语演讲者在公众英语演讲中各类语言资源的使用提供一定的借鉴,使演讲者能够有效地阐明自己的理念并与听众产生互动。

二、理论背景

评价理论是20世纪90年代中后期系统功能语法的新发展。Martin& White(2005)全面系统地介绍了评价理论,标志着评价理论的基本成熟。评价理论是关于评价的,及语篇中所协商的各种态度、所涉及到的情感的强度以及表明价值和联盟读者的各种方式。Martin& White将评价理论分为三大次系统:“态度”、“级差”和“介入”。态度次系统包括情感、判断和鉴赏;级差次系统包括语势和语焦;介入次系统包括自言和借言。

本研究主要讨论TED演讲中介入系统中的借言,即信息类英语演讲语篇的多声性,以TED talks为研究对象,发现介入子系统中各类介入资源的分布及其人际意义的实现。

三、研究方法

为确保文本分析的可操作性和可靠性,所选的语料均选自TED(技术、娱乐、设计)官网(www.ted.com),TED的理念为“ideas worth spreading”与信息类英语演讲的概念相符合,它是全球最具影响力的公众演讲平台,展现着涉及几乎各个领域的各种见解,演讲内容涵盖范围甚广,具有非常重要的研究价值。本研究从TED演讲中选取了点击量最高的6篇演讲作为分析语料,为确保各子类语料的平均分布,选取了占比重最大的科技、娱乐、设计、文化、教育、商业等六大类。为确保研究的信度和效度,本研究对语料文本进行手工标注自建语料库,使用语料库工具软件UAM Corpus Tool进行定性分析,

四、数据分析与讨论

本文应用评价理论着重分析了介入资源在信息类英语演讲中的分布频率,为信息类英语演讲的人际互动意义做出了试探性的研究。信息类英语演讲语篇中介入资源的分布情况:

语篇中较多使用了介入资源,收缩类资源的使用明显高于扩展类资源,高于将近两倍,分别为61.17%和38.23%。在介入资源的次类别中,包容、否定和反驳使用频率最高,占到了介入资源总数的33.57%、25.32和19.27%。拉开距离的使用频率最低0%,由于研究语篇有限,所以拉开距离次类别在本研究中暂不讨论。为传递观众其权威性,信息类英语演讲中使用对话紧缩这一介入资源缩小了话语协商的可能性,排除了演讲的背后可能存在的其他声音,表明自己不容置疑的立场。对话扩展资源为交流协商留出了空间,扩大了信息类演讲语篇对话的可能性,使演讲者的主张或立场更为客观。

1.收缩类介入资源分析。

(1)I can just use my boarding pass to check how much my flight has been delayed, because at that particular time, Im not feeling like opening my iPhone, and checking out a particular icon.

例(1)中通过否定词not介入。否认的前提是有另一个相反的命题,即演讲者想要打开手机查看飞机延误了多长时间。通过高科技,可以直接扫描机票就可以看到所有相关信息,省掉了看手机等其他繁琐步骤。对相反命题的直接否认在一定程度上缩小了对话的空间,保证了演讲者话语的权威性。

(2)So, technically, its a little bit complex, but it gives you an output which is more intuitive to use, in some sense.

例(4)中,演讲者讲述通过肢体语言可以预测出对一个人的印象,在这一例子中,演讲者通过支持资源show来引用相关研究者的话语使自己的观点更具有权威性和说服力。通过引用外部的权威声音来支撑自己的观点,更容易使人信服。

五、结语

信息类英语演讲中使用了除拉开距离外所有的介入资源。收缩类介入资源是扩展类介入资源的两倍,在收缩类资源中,否定、反驳和同意使用较多,分别为25.32%,19.27%和7.85%。在扩展类资源中,包容所占比例最高,33.57%,在所有介入资源中使用频率最高。信息类英语演讲者更倾向于使用对话收缩资源来体现他们的权威性和说服力。在对话扩展类资源中,演讲者使用较多的包容资源邀请不同的声音参与到对话当中,使其观点更加客观,更易被观众所接受。
