各种器材应有尽有,为四平人民的健身提供了便利。健身场所旁边就是专为老年人设计的门球场,场上的老爷爷老奶奶们像年轻人一样矫健。穿过一片小树林,映入眼帘的是一排十二生肖的石像,个个都雕刻得惟妙惟肖,栩栩如生,可见雕刻师技艺之精湛。转过头,就能看见一头石头刻的大黑牛,只见它一副随时准备战斗的姿势,它代表着四平人民勤劳、勇敢、拼搏、进取的精神。向右走,就是我最喜欢的景观“音乐喷泉”,晚上时,音乐喷泉非常漂亮,音乐一起,水柱随着音乐上下飞舞,恰似仙女在翩翩起舞。

高考书面表达的情景包括目的、对象、时间、地点、内容等;提供情景的形式有文字、图画、表格、提纲等,涉及的内容贴近考生实际生活,与考生的日常生活息息相关,这使考生有话可说,体现了人文关怀。书面表达在体裁上的要求多种多样,例如全国II卷要求“在互联网上宣传一家宾馆”(广告);江苏卷要求写一篇发言稿,讲述开展“阳光体育”活动的情况并发表自己的看法;全国I卷及福建等六七个省则要求根据不同的情景写信。

一、考点分析

1. 习惯问答类。

问候、告别、打电话、问路、看病、购物等常见交际话题均有其较为固定的用语;感谢、道歉、祝愿、请求也有其固定的用语。这类题目旨在考查考生是否遵循英语的语言习惯进行问答。

2. 情景用语类。

根据不同的交际情境, 说话者会采用不同的交际用语来表达自己的态度和情感。例如:表示不肯定、没把握时, 常用I’m afraid that.../It depends.等;表示不耐烦和催促时常用Well, come on!等;表示有把握时常用no wonder, no doubt等。

3. 突破定式类。

汉语和英语在交际文化方面有许多共同之处, 但也有诸多差异, 这些差异往往是考查的重中之重。答题时要尽量避免母语定式的干扰, 根据英语的思维方式和交际习惯来问答。如英语中有一些句式, 其形式为否定句, 而意义却是肯定的, 如“I couldn’t agree more.”

三、解题“四忌”

一忌上词下用。上词下用指的是答句部分沿用了题干句子的重点词或信息词, 按表层意思似乎合情合理, 但往往为错误的“虚像”。典型的例子如:用“I don’t...”回答“Don’t forget to come to my birthday party tomorrow.”用“Don’t be sorry...”回答“I’m sorry I broke your mirror.”以及用“No thanks”回答“Thank you so much for your help.”避免上词下用的误区, 一是确认题目涉及的交际功能项目;二是确认句子上下语境;三是选择正确的表达方式。

二忌中文思维。与上词下用比较, 这一误区更具迷惑性, 因为无论按题目内容或是按思维方式来考虑, 都非常符合中国学生的习惯。显然, 掌握英、汉两种语言及文化之间的相同和相异之处, 对于准确解题至关重要。学生解题失误之一是按汉语的表达方式和结构去套英语, 去选答案, 这属于语言知识的“负迁移”。

三忌直接回绝。这主要是指在对方要求得到帮助, 提出请求或邀请时, 回答过于直接, 不够委婉, 尽管从语义角度分析是没毛病的, 但不符合英语国家的交际习惯。“请求”方面的问话有:May I...?/Can I...?/I wonder if I could.../Do you mind if I...?等;“邀请”方面的问话有:Will you...?/Would you like to...?/I’d like to invite you to...等。在作否定回答时, 为了表示礼貌和委婉, 通常要用一些委婉词, 如I’m afraid, I’m sorry, thanks but, had better等。

四忌答非所问。答非所问的错误比较容易察觉, 如果问话与答话的内容风马牛不相及的话, 学生可以迅速排除。当内容有所关联时, 需要仔细推敲才会发现其实答语并不切题。

四、解题技巧

1. 答语提示法。

在有些征求意见或请求许可的问答中, 我们可以根据已有的答语来判断说话者的态度, 是同意还是拒绝, 是支持还是反对。例如:

—I’ll be away on a business trip.Would you mind looking after my cat?

—Not at all.________.

A.I’d be happy to

B.I’d rather not

C.I’d like it

D.I have no time

解析:从“Not at all”这一答语中可知应答者的态度, 所以A项正确。

2. 身临其境法。

在审题过程中, 考生可以假设自己就在情境中, 自己就是对话者。这样能更准确地把握出题者的思路, 做出准确的判断。例如:

—Do remember to see a doctor tomorrow!

—________.

A.Got itB.Heard it

C.Made itD.Taken it

解析:Got it.=I have got it.我明白;Heard it我已听说过了;Make it.成功;Take it.拿起来, 接受。假如你就是文中叮嘱的人, 你觉得最合适、最想听到的答语应该是A项。

3. 语境归类法

在平常的练习中, 我们可以对语境进行归类, 以便分类记忆。如:看到I’m sorry, I’m afraid, You’d rather not, You’d better not这样的答语时, 很自然地就联想到委婉拒绝或建议。看到Would you mind这样的字眼要特别注意Yes表示介意, No表示不介意。例如:

—Do you mind my turning off the light?

—________.I’m reading the end of the story.

A.No, not at all

B.Of course not

C.I’d rather you didn’t

充分考虑中西方文化的差异

中西方文化差异较大,就语言而言,汉语一般都要比英语客气、委婉。比如,在汉语中对别人的表扬一般都会表示谦虚。有这样一则笑话:一位美国商人在翻译的陪同下参加晚会,当这位美国人和一位中国客人交谈时很客套地说了一句:“Your wife is very beautiful.”翻译把这句话翻译成中文后,中国人自然谦虚地说:“哪里,哪里。”而翻译却也就译成了“Where? Where?”这在美国人听来,就是让他指明美在哪里,他只好尴尬地答道:“Everywhere, everywhere.”

这则笑话形象地表现了中西方文化的差异,它也提醒我们在做题必须考虑到这一点。例如:

— It's getting late. I'm afraid I must be going now.

— OK. ____________. (2004年高考全国卷)

本题答案为D。但当年不少考生都因为受汉语思维模式的影响选了B。按照汉语习惯,人们在告别时都要嘱咐客人路上小心、慢走。在英语中送客人离开只需简单地说声“See you.”或“Goodbye.”即可。

2.— Hi, haven't seen you for ages! You look fine!

拒绝时应委婉,切忌直接回绝

英语中有这样一个短语 “a white lie”,即“善意的谎言”。在交际英语中就有许多必要的“善意的谎言”。例如你在别人家做客,主人的菜做得不好吃,但他又邀请你再多吃一些,直接道明原因是不可能的。你只能撒谎了:“I'm full now.”再如:

— How do you like my painting?

— I don't have an eye for beauty, I'm afraid.

后面一句真正的意思是“I don't like your painting.”但如此回答,对方则不会没有面子。类似的例子还有:

1.— Would you like to come to my party tomorrow?

— I'd liked to, but I have made an appointment with my friend.

2.— Could you help me with these dishes?

— I'm afraid I can't. I have lots of homework to do.

回答时要前后一致,不能自相矛盾

对前后一致的考查一般与对某些特殊句式的考查相结合,把对前后一致与其他复杂知识点的考查结合起来,考生就容易出错。例如:

— Do you mind if I keep pets in this building?

—_____________.

A. I'd rather you didn't, actually

B. Of course not, it's not allowed here

C. Great! I love pets

D. No, you can't

该题首先考查“Do you mind...?”句式该如何应答。考生需要记住:自己给出肯定还是否定答案都是根据是否“mind”决定的,如果“介意”则回答为肯定,如是“不介意”则回答为否定。在这点确定下来后,我们再考虑前后一致问题。A答案回答为肯定,且前后一致,为正确答案;B答案前半部分表示了否定态度,即“不介意”,后面却又表示“介意”,互相矛盾。C、D同样也是前后矛盾。再如:

— Would you like some more tea?

— ______, please. (2005年全国卷)

A. No moreB. Just a little

此题答案为B,从题干部分中的please可以看出回答是肯定的,所以排除A和C。 而“Would you like...?”是一种表示客气的说法,所以回答不说“I would”,一般回答为“Yes, I'd love to.”

不可盲目沿用上句的词或词组

很多同学喜欢在做题时沿用上下文所出现的词或词组。这在某些时候,尤其是做完型填空时,是切实可行的。但是在做情景题时,这一招就很容易让你落入出题者所设的陷阱。例如:

— Can I get you a cup of tea?

— __________.

A. That's very kind of you

B. With pleasure

C. You can, please

D. Thank you for the tea

该题选A。很多学生都误选了C。在英语中,当对方主动提供帮助或服务时,要表示感谢,可以回答“Thank you.”或“That's very kind of you.”等等。B项是答应对方请求的客套话;而D项应是喝完茶之后的感谢语。

类似的例子还有:

1.— Could you help me with this problem?

— Yes, I could. ×(应为:Sure.)

2.— I'm sorry I broke your mirror.

— Don't say sorry. × (应为:It doesn't matter.)

此外,近年来英语情景题也有不少是和语法点相联系的。我们在平时的训练中既要掌握常见的情景对话,也要掌握一些口语上的固定搭配,把所学的知识活学活用,这样才能在解答英语情景题上有所提高。
