英语公示语具有提示性、指示性、限制性的作用。通常情况下,英语公示语的语境都要弱于其他文体翻译过程中的语境。然而,语境不仅包括语言因素,如作品的上下文或者说话的前言后语,而且还涉及到各种非语言因素,如交际过程中的时间、地点、场合、时代和交际对象等。因此,在翻译过程中的语境一般存在于文章体和口头表达过程中。同时,英语公示语的另外一个特性就是语句较为简单经济,通常是借助于名词、动词、动名词、词组、短语、缩略语、现在时态、文字等与图标进行组合,而很少使用标点符号。此外,还有一些英语公示语常常会省略主语、谓语、宾语、系动词和冠词等内容,促使整个语句达到难以复加的目的。根据这个切入点,则可以看出英语公示语在语用上的基本经济原则。因此,在理解英语公示语的过程中,应该将其合理地与周围的环境融为一体,透过语境进行推理判断,从而达到理解公示语的目的。

二、提示性校园安全英语公示语

安全技术管理类专业的课程特点是以安全设计、评价、监督与技术管理为核心, 研究可靠性理论、安全系统工程、安全人机工程、工业卫生技术、环境检测技术、通风与防尘工程、安全信心与微机管理等实用型科目。学生进入本专业学习后, 需清晰、深入了解适合于本专业学习的“职业岗位”, 并跟随老师, 刻苦努力学习文化知识。随着多元文化逐渐渗入, 外来经济、外来文化开始进驻到安全技术管理职业领域, 所以学生除了要具备岗位知识素质与职业能力之外, 还要建构专业岗位所需要的英语知识结构和培养应用能力。在这一方面, 高校在英语教学改革中必须予以重视、加强管理。例如, 针对性地编写具有本校特色的安全英语教材和配套辅助教材, 力求包含专业目标岗位群中最常用到、最常出现的英语技能知识;又如, 从专业角度入手, 有计划、有目标地培养学生掌握专业英语词汇量的掌握、商务交流方式方法、业务文本的阅读与熟练书写方式等。

二、基于安全技术管理类专业英语需求的大学英语教学改革策略

本文根据ESP (English for Special Purpose) 教学模式为基础, 研究以安全技术管理专业为知识核心的英语教学改革策略, 把英语学习和应用有机结合, 在应用的前提条件下, 探讨针对性的英语学习方法。

1. 计划、分解英语教学目标

大学英语与初高中英语本质上的不在于是其考核、测试方式有了很大的改变, 前者多以实践应用为主, 注重口语和听力, 而后者更关注笔试, 规则语法的记忆和熟练。为填补学生对专业英语词汇的生疏、理解认知能力差等漏洞, 在教材选编、制订教学计划时, 教师应根据安全技术管理专业理论知识、常用语言、固定文本格式等多方面内容, 分解词汇, 按照常用语言、不常用语言、专业术语、非专业术语等类别分类, 或是直接在专业教材中进行“英汉互译”, 标注英语单词, 带领学生记忆背诵。掌握基础性专业词汇后, 便可以开始按照专业英语素质培养方式来计划英语课程了。例如, 先搜集与本学期专业理论知识有关的英语文献、资料, 以报刊、故事、说明文形式存在皆可, 发放给学生, 让学生自主、独立阅读, 对文章大意有所了解, 对基础知识有初步认识。如此提前导入以英语思维为主的文化知识, 有利于学生在安全技术管理专业学习中拥有英语思维想法和文化素养, 可有效融合英语知识与专业知识。

2.“3+1”教学模式探索

高校教学内容是直接与学生未来职业发展挂钩的, 所以学习不是教育的终极目标, 学生真正拥有应用、实践能力才是关键。高校应致力于探索“3+1”教学模式, 即教、学、做三合一, 统筹为实践作铺垫。首先, 高校在英语教学课程安排上就应做出积极调整, 按照不同功能教学模块分配教学任务, 在“教”阶段, 鼓励、敦促学生积累有关专业学习的各种英语词汇、语法知识, 发放学习任务, 定期考核审查学生的学习情况, 该过程与义务教育的应试教学理念不谋而合, 因为其是唯一可以约束、限制学生学习行为的有效办法和方式;其次, 在“学”阶段, 给予学生充分的自主选择权利, 可以增设多种教学服务, 如, 学生想多锻炼、学习口语和听力, 老师便通过交流、实践活动, 为学生创设语言情境, 学生想更多地了解专业职业中的英语文化和思想, 老师便要依靠强大的网络资源, 搜集整理各式各样的前沿讯息, 传送给学生, 该过程是学生博闻强记的过程, 也是教学差距差异最大的教育阶段;最后, 在“做”阶段, 做是实践的前提和基础, 与先前的学习过程不同, 教师应在学生“做”的过程中占据主导, 根据自身的教学经验与该专业教师探讨, 设置活动主题, 如, 针对一个安全技术管理问题, 四五个学生参与讨论, 目标是解决安全问题, 全程使用英语。在特定的语言环境中, 学生的思维和想法都会围绕着以英语文化、知识为核心的语言情境进行。结束三个阶段教育之后, 学校可安排学生到适合于他们的企业岗位中实习、实践, 并叮嘱学生怎样在实践中恰当、科学地应用英语, 积累英语沟通、交流、书写经验, 让自己真正成为一名高英语素质人才。

3. 师资资源的吸纳与培养

专业英语教师资源匮乏一直是高校教育面临的重要难题, 虽然近几年已经有很多高校开始致力于该方面人才的培养, 但培养周期长, 短期很难见效, 教师资源无法满足高校英语教学的转型要求。为此, 学校可以广纳社会上拥有安全技术管理专业知识、经验的职业人, 让他们与高校英语教师密切沟通, 把两方面的专业知识通过沟通交流的方法汇集、融合在一起, 再由教师编辑、处理, 通过培养、研究, 传达给学生。

通过上文对高校安全技术管理专业学生的英语教学改革实践方法的综合探究可知, 教育教学被认为是可以改变意识、模式、内容的, 尤其是在专业目的、教育要求相对单一、明确的条件下。大学英语针对专业学习任务、职业岗位要求的不同而改变教学意识、模式、内容是完全合乎情理的, 在未来几年, 其教学体制的优化和改革仍然会继续前进。

摘要:对大多数高校而言, 安全技术管理类专业有助于培养实践能力强、专业素质高的实用人才, 因为该专业课程不仅仅停留在知识理论表面, 而是讲究以问题、现象入手, 找寻分析解决问题的路径和方法。为了能够让安全技术管理类专业的学生获得更多国内外先进知识, 在未来职业发展中拥有广阔的活动空间, 正处于社会转型期的高校将精力集中于英语教学改革中, 通过培养学生的语言素质、积累语言经验, 拓展其职业发展的路径和空间。现阶段, 技能型的人才虽备受青睐, 但限于教学课程、时限的标准要求, 技能型学生除了本专业的技艺之外, 几乎无暇将精力投射到其他实用型课程上, 这一普遍现象会严重影响安全技术管理类专业学生综合素质的提高与优化。
