摘要：本文是一篇翻译报告,翻译原文为英国兰卡斯特大学的瓦茨克拉夫?布勒辛纳（Vaclav Brezina）博士所著的《语料库语言学中的统计学:实用指南》（Statistics in Corpus Linguistics:A Practical Guide）。原作是一部关于语料库统计学的学术著作,其主要内容为语料库语言学中的统计分析以及统计技术的应用。该书由剑桥出版社出版于2018年,根据译者的调查,目前国内尚无中文译本出版或发表。原作一经发表,在语料库语言学领域内引起了较大的反响,有学者称这是一本初学者和语言学家必备的,有关语料库语言学统计方法的指南,同时也有其他学者表示该书兼顾了理论和实践的平衡,是语料库语言学领域一直期待的专著。同时,国内也缺乏语料库统计学相关领域的中文书籍,翻译这本书对于丰富该领域的参考资料具有重要意义。原作主要探讨语料库语言学中的统计分析以及统计技术的应用,从词汇、语义和话语等方面揭示统计分析的应用操作。原书的体裁为学术英语,同时也具有口语化的特点,因此是学术化和口语化的结合,语言风格严谨,但也通俗易懂,同时书内采用了大量的方程公式以及图表数据,示例丰富,具有很强的理论性和实践性。由于本文具有很强的专业性,这就导致动词的翻译在选词方面需要符合语料库语言学以及统计学领域的特点,同时本文方程表格较多,如何处理好格式的问题也显得尤为重要。本文采用了赖斯的文本类型翻译理论为指导讨论上述学术英语动词的翻译,那些动词主要包括:identify,investigate,explore和define等。赖斯认为,根据文本的功能,文本类型可以分为四类:信息型文本、表达型文本、操作型文本以及呼吁型文本,翻译方法的运用受到文本类型的制约。根据该理论,本书属于信息型文本,受到文本类型的限制,我们一般采用直译、显化的翻译方法进行翻译,从而确保翻译的准确性。一个动词的翻译在不同领域的文本不尽相同,因此我们要结合文本特点,查清背景知识,选用恰当的词进行翻译。
