choose to be happy must help others find happiness, for the welfare of each is bound up with the welfare of all.

The lesson for each of us is this: if we are to grow good corn, we must help our neighbors grow good corn.

In our society, we forget this simple rule: The longer you wait for certain things, the better they will be. But we want the best job as quickly as possible; we want to graduate from college in as few years as possible; we even speed through our homework just to chat with friends. When we do this, we lose something of great importance.

We all want to get to the next step so quickly that perhaps we don’t get ready enough to get there. This has a negative effect (负面影响) on our society. When trying to go to the right college, we will do anything to get in and when we rush through our homework, we may not study enough for the test, and end up failing. We need to be ready for whatever comes, ready for the unexpected. Just as wine gets better over time, so do the things in our paths.

I have determined that I am living in a television sitcom(情景喜剧). It started back in November when my wife’s sister and her husband sold their house. They have been building a nice new home. They quickly sold their former house, but this meant they would be without a home for nearly three months. So my wife offered to let them move in with us for a few months.Thus, my wife’s sister and her husband have become our house-guests. Of course, most of my friends didn’t think this was a good thing at the beginning, but I was cheerfully confident. I like my wife’s sister, her husband and their daughters, who are cute. We all get along pretty well. My wife and her sister have always been best friends even when my life becomes a sitcom with the total chaos(混乱), because we have eight people and an insolent(傲慢的) cat living under one roof.

My house used to be a fairly quiet place. It was nice to come home after work, take my shoes off and enjoy a relaxing dinner with the family. Now it becomes a day-care center and an amusement park. We call the period between 8 pm and 9 pm, when the kids make beds for the night, "Happy Hour".

My kitchen has become a 24-hour dining-room. With four adults, two youngsters, two babies and the cat, there are always dirty dishes and something cooking on the stove. Sometimes we have one large dinner together when our schedules allow. Other times, my guests may serve one dinner, me another when I get home, and my wife a third dinner when she arrives home. By the time the third dinner of the evening is served, it’s time to prepare bedtime snacks. The basic rule is, "If you don’t help cook it, you don’t help eat it."

Just like in a sitcom, my wife and I usually end the day giggling(哈哈大笑) about the interesting things that occur during a "normal" day, like babies chasing the cat through the kitchen, or the cat running after babies through the kitchen. I’ve never had a sister, but now I can honestly say that my wife’s sister is mine.
