翻译种类繁多，文学翻译与其他翻译类型有着本质的区别，文学文本本身既有语言表现的表层含义又有其所蕴含的深层含义，与其他翻译类型不同的是文学翻译更加倾向于作者和读者的主观感受，具有艺术性，模糊性和多元性特征。

二、文学翻译的特点

文学文本总是通过向读者展现某种形象来实现作者的表达意图，这也就是所谓的塑造人物形象，文学通过形象表达作者的思想感情和观念，所以文学形象都具有一定的思想情感，每个人物形象都渗透了原作者的情感和态度，作为译者怎样尽量还原原作的人物形象和原作者的情感态度就成了翻译的重点和难点。

文学作为一项语言的艺术，成为作家塑造人物和表达情感的媒介，语言是文学的第一要素。文学语言是一种富有模糊性和想象性的语言，哪怕作者描述的再详尽，也是一千个读者一千个哈姆雷特，每个人读后的理解和感受都是不同的，因为语言文字并不像画作和影视作品那样直观，文学作品中展现的画面基本都是靠读者自己想象，所以即使同一文学作品不同的译者翻译，译作也会有很大差异，以为译者首先也是读者，理解不同，翻译也不同，所以文学翻译要比科技翻译等类型的翻译难度要大。文学通过塑造形象，并在空间和时间中多方面的展示和描述形象，文学作品中的时间具有延展性，地点具有多元化，通过时间和空间的交叉来使塑造的形象更加丰满生动，使情节也更加丰富有趣，这也就要求译者在翻译作品时尽量保留原作的生动性和完整性。

三、文学翻译的标准

有人认为文学翻译标准只是翻译标准下的一个子分支，其实也不尽然，翻译的类型有很多，各有各的特点，所以翻译标准也不尽相同，如果非要说文学翻译就只是翻译的一个子分支，那只的确有些以管窥豹。在中国的传统译论中，严复的“信达雅”、傅雷的“传神”以及钱钟书的“化境”说被视作近代三大译论典范。关于“信达雅”，按照严复的本意，“信”即忠实于原文，“达”即翻译的流畅，“雅”即译文的典雅。钱钟书先生提出的“化境”说，认为文学翻译的最高标准是“化”。把文学作品从一国文字转化为另一国文字，既能不因语文习惯的差异而露出生硬牵强的痕迹，又能保持原有的风味，那就是算得了“化境”。

四、案例分析

文学翻译总是伴随着如何选择翻译方法和评判标准的争议，为达到翻译目的，译者要恰当选择翻译方法来获得更好的译文。

（一）转换法

1.原文：I was on a soccer team in third grade， but after a shin guard to the face and a broken nose， I quit.

译文：我在三年级的时候参加过足球队，可是被护膝砸到了脸，伤到了鼻子，所以也就不再参加了。

分析：原文“a shin guard to the face”和“ a broken nose”分别为两个名词短语，但是译文将两个名词短语转换为动宾短语，to本身是一个介词，译文将其转换为动词“砸向”，“broken”本身是一个形容词，译文将其转换为动词“伤到”，这样转换可以使译文更加形象生动，仿佛一个不擅长运动的小学生形象跃然眼前，文学翻译不仅仅是把原文意思传递给读者，更重要的是要把作者创造的人物形象传递给读者。

2.原文：Zoe was standing behind me with her eyes peeled wide open， staring into the same spot in the tree line that I was studying only seconds ago.

译文：佐伊站在我身后，瞪大了双眼，盯着一排树中的同一个地点，也就是我刚才学习的地方。

分析：原文中“wide open”作“peeled”的状语，表现佐伊当时眼睛睁的很大，翻译时，直接将两个副词wide和open转换成动词，使译文更加简洁，也更加生动形象地表现出佐伊当时吃惊的形象；“that I was studying only seconds ago”作the tree line的定语从句，如果译文中规中矩地把定语从句翻译成一个名词前的定语势必会导致头重脚轻，所以译文采取分译法将定语从句转换为一个短句，使译文更加简洁明了。

（二）増词与简词

1.原文：Im not that into scary stories and watch enough with my dad to know that monsters are fake…at least I think theyre fake.

译文：我没那么喜欢恐怖故事，因为我和爸爸看了足够多的恐怖故事，知道那些鬼怪都是假的。。。反正我认为是假的。

分析：原文中watch enough被译为看了足够多的恐怖小说，原文可能避免scary stories重复，所以将其省略，但是翻译时采取增译，将原文中省略的部分补充出来，便于读者理解。

2.原文：I cant stand waiting for the microwave to beep after a minute.

译文：我等不下去了，哪怕微波炉还要一分钟就会发出嘀声。

分析：原文中stand意为“忍受”，原文意思是“我无法忍受等待。。。”，如果按照原文字面意思直译，那么译文会显得冗长又啰嗦，并且有明显翻译腔，众所周知，翻译腔是翻译的大忌，所以在翻译过程中采取了减词，省略了原文中的stand，将其意为“等不下去了”，这样既变现出来了主人公急切的心理，又使译文简洁明了，同时也避免了翻译腔的出现。

（三）肯定与否定

1.原文：I think even the best of us have our weaknesses.

译文：我想再好的人也不是毫无弱点。

分析：原文为肯定语气，译文将原文的肯定语气转换成双重否定，虽然意思上没有改变，但是双重否定要比肯定句语气更加强烈，前文的意思是忍者给他奥利奥饼干，他知道不应该拿可疑人的东西，但是又想拿，所以为了给自己一个拿饼干的借口才说人都是有弱点的，此时用双重否定来将强语气，以此来表现想拿奥利奥饼干的急切心理。

2.原文：The white powder of chalk exploded into the air， making it impossible to see anything.

译文：白色的粉笔末在空气中爆炸，我什么也看不见了。

分析：原文当中的意思是由于忍者在主人公面前拍打着黑板擦，粉笔末似乎像爆炸了一样弥漫开来，导致视线受阻，什么也看不清了，如果直接采取直译，译文为“白色的粉笔末在空气中爆炸，不可能看见任何东西。”显然并不符合汉语的说话习惯，所以译者为了使译文更流畅采取了反译法，显然处理过的译文更加简洁流畅。

3.原文：Strange that I didnt even notice him until he spoke.

译文：奇怪的是，直到他说话，我才注意到他。

分析：原文很明显是一个由didnt引导的否定句，如果直译，译文则是“奇怪的是，我没有注意到他，直到他说话。”明显采取反译法的译文更加符合汉语习惯，简洁明了，根据作者的意思，侧重点在已经注意到他了，而非没有注意到，所以此处采取反译法才能传递出原文作者的侧重点。
