40多年来，吴金印主动放弃组织上调他到上级机关工作的机会，深深扎根基层，与群众同甘共苦，忠于党的事业，不计名利，不怕艰苦，带领群众脱贫致富，在平凡的工作岗位上作出了优异的成绩，树立起了基层党员干部的良好形象，赢得了人民群众的拥护和爱戴。在卫辉市狮豹头公社工作10多年间，他在群众家住了7年，在治水工地住了8年，带领群众打通6个山洞，筑起85道大坝，建起25座水库和蓄水池，架起8座公路大桥，营造良田2400亩，植树20多万株，使一穷二白的山区发生了巨大变化。1987年，吴金印调任唐庄乡党委书记，带领群众建起了万亩林果园、万亩蔬菜田，兴办了无氧铜杆厂、电工厂、水泥厂等企业，使唐庄乡插上了腾飞的翅膀。唐庄实现工业固定资产投资3.7亿元，工农业总产值10.65亿元，一般预算收入3810万元，农民人均纯收入达到4760元。
吴金印着装十分简朴，脸上是憨厚的笑容。在谈到他刚到唐庄时的景象，他仍记忆犹新：“我是1987年到的唐庄，那时候老百姓生活很苦，吃的是野菜，住的是土窑洞。我们看到有些群众因为家里生活困难，不得以外迁。外迁前到坟地，给祖先的坟头再烧把纸，回来把家里所有东西往车上一装，走的时候全村老百姓都出来送他们，一家人都哭了，虽说是要离开这个穷地方，但毕竟祖祖辈辈都生活在这里，有感情啊，周围老百姓，街坊邻居也都哭了。
虽说已是前的事情，记者看到吴金印眼含热泪。当时老百姓反映的最强烈的心声就是要脱贫，要致富。他说：“我们农村领导干部，吃的粮是农民种的，拿的工资也是靠农民交的税。在工作上要是不给群众办事，不带领农民致富，对不起人民啊。”
为了找到使农民群众脱贫致富的办法，他和其他乡领导走遍了唐庄乡的每座山、每道沟，到每户农户家里进行调研。最终根据唐庄有山地、有丘陵的复杂地形，因地制宜制定出唐庄的农业发展规划。吴金印总结为四句话“西抓石头东抓菜，北抓林果南抓粮，乡镇企业挑大梁，沿着国道做文章”。所谓西抓石头是指西部山区石头多，在西部山区开设石材开采和石灰窑厂;东部离城区近，交通方便，人多地少，水利条件好，种蔬菜有市场条件;北边是丘陵地区，水利条件不好，因此种不怕旱的果树，年年可保证丰收;南部土地肥沃，适宜种粮。同时，他们还积极引进资金开设乡镇企业，解决了农村富余劳动力问题。
在他的带领下，现在的唐庄已经旧貌换新颜，农民的生活也芝麻开花节节高。以前农民种粮时每亩收入不到一千元，现在收入是大幅提高了，有些村已经变成了生态村，家家都有现代化电器，村里街道住宅规划整齐有序。
农民的生活越来越好，吴金印继续建设新农村的脚步并没有停止。，他带领村干部再下基层进行调研，确立了新形势下唐庄新的发展方针，仍然是四句话：农村建设城市化、农业生产科技化、农村经营市场化、基层政权规范化。大力推进小城镇建设和结构调整步伐，使全镇经济建设和各项社会事业步入良性发展轨道。
就在吴金印带领全镇人民沿着社会主义新农村道路加快建设的时候，他却病倒了。12月，他突出感到下腹疼痛，便血。体力不支的他不动声色地把镇领导班子成员召集在一起：“我到北京跑招商的事，你们在家把工作安排好。”下午4时，他离开唐庄镇，次日凌晨2点乘火车赶到北京，并以最快的速度在北京医科大学附属医院接受手术。只有他的妹妹和儿子陪他做了肾摘除手术。当儿子在意见书上签字时，妹妹哭了。亲人的眼泪激荡着吴金印的胸怀。他告诉记者：“当时我唯一的感觉就是欠家庭、欠亲人的太多太多。”术后三天他就要求出院。出院后的第一天，他就忍着伤痛出现在荒山治理的工地上。

00年可以说是非常投入的工作，没有什么太多的想法。但是到了01年的时候，不知是那根神经被触动了，突然想到要学点东西来提高自己，也不至于只局限于学校做一辈子老师。于是我下定决心学习英文，作为人生的突破口，但是两次下决心，两次放弃，因为口音太烂受不了同事的冷嘲热讽。本以为人生从此无望，整天闷闷不乐、在无奈中虚度光阴。也许我天生就是一个幸运儿，在我彷徨而又无奈的时候，我的一个女同事来到了我的身边，在她的鼓励下参加了由李阳的学生在常州举办的一个培训班而且是唯一的一期，因为由于没有多少人参加，也就没有再办下去。在那期间我只听了十四节课，大概学了四五十句话。虽然时间非常短暂，但从此激发了我的热情，从那个时候起，我成了校园里的名人，因为我到处都在喊英文，见到任何人都是英文，也不管别人能否听得懂。所以很多同事不再叫我海军，而是叫我crazy man。也有的老师在议论是不是海军受到了什么刺激，而发疯的。有的老师说，要是我们的学生都像海军这样学习，那我们的英语还得了。也的老师在校长面前说难道张海军没有工作？
应该说当时的压力很大，首先就是来自同事的，由于发音不标准再加上是大声的朗读，简直就是噪音污染，所以经常遭到他们强烈抗议。我抵住了很大的压力，我知道这一次如果在放弃，可能我就放弃了一生的希望。所以面对批评与指责，我是始终保持沉默的，我想大不了，回家自学。经过一个阶段的努力，发音是有所提高了，但说的还是不地道。有一次在网上看到一个美式英语900句的教程，但是他的教程只能在他的机器中才能使用。就是我今天要为大家介绍的音文秀，他网上的报价是1580，这样的价位相当于我当时两个月的工资。花这么多钱买这样的一部机器到底值不值我犹豫了好长时间，最终我还是决定要花我两个月的工资来购买这部机器，因为我发现他的网站上有大量的教程什么配套的现行教材，流行英语，专业英语，还有著名的英文演讲。如果我购买了这部机器，以后我所有的学习教程都不需要在去购买了，只要到他们的网站上下载就行了。还有一点就是由于它体积比较小，便于随身携带，我说过我是搞电视的，外出拍电视是经常的事，以前每次外出都要带上两本书，要是装在身上简直就是累赘。但这部机器只有扑克牌那样大小，这样一来语言环境就可以随身携带了。基于这两点考虑，我在就02年的暑假前花了1580元邮购了一部，结果这一决定从此改变了我的人生轨迹。为什么这么说呢？因为接下来的一个月的时间里我一句一句的认认真真的模仿了美式英语900句，无论是外出，还是在单位，我都能做到语言环境随身携带，一个月下来，我的口语可以说彻底的改变，并且总结出了其中的发音规律。口语一旦形成，我从此就获得了很大的自信，在任何场合我都敢大段大段的卖弄英文，因为我自信我的发音是很地道的。
