篇3：QQ个性签名语言问题实例简析

但凡有过网络聊天经历的人都对ICQ、Picq、Oicq、OMMO、AOL ICQ、AOL AIM、Windows Messenger、OICQ (腾讯QQ的前身, 1999年初首度推出) 等国、内外在线时通讯软件略有所闻, 甚或都有或长或短的使用经历。在在线即时通讯软件市场中, QQ凭借其合理的界面设计、简单友好的操作以及日趋完善的强大功能, 已雄踞中国之首、紧追AOL ICQ与AOL AIM之后位居世界第三。QQ除了聊天 (文字、语音、视频) 、网络下载、发送铃声、歌曲、图片等资料、游戏等诸多功能, 还有很多个性化的设计, 其中一项就是个性签名。QQ用户以此发泄情绪、表达信仰、张扬个性。在此项中, Q友们采用了各种符号与各国文字, 新新人类甚至创造了文字、符号混用的“火星文”。就笔者的发现, 单单外语就有法语 (Bienétudier et faire des progies chague jour) 、拉丁语 (Veni, Vidi, Vici与Cogito, non sum) 、日语 (成功は先ずまちがいない) , QQ个性签名可谓汇聚了世界各国的语言, 俨然一个在线即时通讯的小联合国。当然, 使用汉语签名是主流, 外语个性签名中多用的是英语。笔者对中、英文签名进行了收集, 发现了不少语言上的问题, 本文拟以此为例, 就其错误原因进行分析、探讨。
1 QQ个性签名中汉语存在的问题及原因
汉语中存在的问题比较多, 其中突出的有两大类:表达啰嗦与欧化汉语。
表达啰嗦指的表达中使用了过多的词语, 这造成了句子的臃肿、繁复, 缺乏简介、明快之感。例如:“就没有不郁闷的一天”。如果不做大的改动, 此句我们习惯写成“没有一天不郁闷”。除了不太符合我们的语言表达习惯外, 这句大可改成“天天/日日难受”。又如:“休息, 是为了走更远的路”。一般说来, 我们会这样表达“休息, 以走得更远。”
欧化汉语指的是照搬外语句型, 造成句子模式的异化。句1:“我希望看见全部的你们”, 这句话听上去想是出自一位老外之口。之所以如此, 问题出在“全部的你们”。这“全部的你们”显然直接来自英语的“all of you”。而根据汉语的惯常说法, 这句应该是“我希望看见你们每一个人”。句2, “是勤奋, 而不是天赋, 决定了人的成就”。一看这句就让人想起英语的强调句型。这句的原型大致是“It is…, not…, that decides…”对于此句, 我们有以下几种更好的表达方式:“不是天赋决定了人的成就的, 而是勤奋”、“是勤奋决定了人的成就的, 而不是天赋”、“决定了人的成就的是勤奋, 而不是天赋”、“决定了人的成就的不是天赋, 而是勤奋”。相较之下, 最后一句因其更符合汉语的表达习惯, 同时突出强调了“勤奋”对个人成就的决定作用而为最佳选择。
从上文的简要分析来看, QQ个性签名中汉语存在的问题可以简单归结为:汉语言的造诣问题、语境问题、外语带来的干扰。语言的造诣问题指的是一个人驾驭语言水平和能力问题。这容易理解, 不在此赘述。此处外语带来的干扰仅仅限于句子模式的欧化, 而非诸如用词等其它方面的干扰。
众所周知, “使用语言的人每次都是在特定的语言环境中, 为特定的目的进行交际。由于不同类型的言语环境, 就各自形成一系列运用语言材料的特点, 就是语体。”[1]语境, 即语言环境。“影响语境的因素有很多, 海默斯在他的《社会语言学基础》一书中将语境要素归纳为SPEAK ING一词。S代表Setting and Scene (背景和场景) , P代表Participants (参加者) , E代表Ends (目的及结果) , A代表Act Sequence (信息的形式与内容) , K代表Key (传递信息的方式) , I代表Instrumentalities (使用什么语言、方言等) , N代表Norms (在各种情况下应遵守的规范) , G代表Genres (体裁) 。”[2]
语体有口语体和书面语体之分, 前者表现形态自然, 灵活生动、不雕琢、多变化、语句松散, 后者讲求规范性、条理性、逻辑性、表意严密、句子平衡、意义明确。相对于QQ聊天, QQ个性签名更为正式、书面, 应该采用书面语体, 遵循其表述规则。
2 QQ个性签名中英语存在的问题
QQ个性签名中的英语问题大致分为两类:语法错误 (grammar mistakes) 与语用错误 (pragmatic failure) 。语法错误包括用词不当、缺省不当、搭配不当与指代关系不明。语用错误包括逻辑关系不严密、语体不当 (具体表现为太过口语化) 、缺乏与英语相关的文化知识。
2.1 语法错误
英语作为一种系统性的语言, 有一套既成的、对其具有统摄作用的语法规则, 这是每个人在学习和使用英语都应该且必须遵循的游戏规则。而在QQ个性签名所使用的英语中, 语法问题比较突出。
用词不当。
例1:“I am too happy to stand faint!”原本是恋爱中的人要表达“我幸福得感到目眩神迷”之意, 却成了“我是如此幸福, 不至于意识不清”!
例2:“Repair what you can—but when you must fail, fail noisily and as soon as possible.”本想表达“尽我所能地去准备, 但不得不失败的话, 那就尽量失败得轰轰烈烈吧”之意, 却成了“尽可能地做好准备, 但不得不失败的话, 那就尽量失败得闹哄哄吧。”
例3:“Great comes from little.”此句英语习惯表达用“small”而非“little”。因为“little”多指年幼、体积小等, 如:Mighty o ak s f r o m l it t le ac o rn s gr o w, 不涉及价值, 但“small”还兼有细小、不起眼、微不足道之意。如:“Great things come in small packages”、“Great things may come from small beginnings”。
缺省不当。
例:“Forgive me for I had done before”。此句按照英语语法, 应改成“Forgive me for what I had done before”。如将语境的英语考虑进去, 应该是说话人对当前业已犯下的错道歉, 则改为“Forgive me for what I have done”为好。
搭配不当、指代关系不明。
例:将原本是要表达“失衡”之意, 却误将“off balance”改成了“off the balance”等。
2.2 语用错误 (pragmatic failure)
“语用失误不是指一般遣词造句中出现的语言运用错误 (performance errors) , 而是说话不合时宜的失误, 或者说话方式不妥、表达不合习惯等导致交际不能取得预期效果的失误。”[3]这种失误与语法错误不同, 不是源自语义偏差, 主要是由说话方式的不妥、对语言的运用不当 (歧义、模糊性、多义、指称的缺省) 、对所使用语言相关的文化缺乏了解所造成的。

例:“Find your heart find your soul fi nd you r way.”句子中间没有任何标点, 同时, 英语作为一种逻辑关联很强的语言, 但三个“find”动作之间却无逻辑标识, 全句成了随意的短语堆砌。如果我们试着在中间加上“to, then, and, finally”这样的关联词, 这个句子就更像英语了。
语体不当。
例:“I beg your pardon that I am not beside you when you are in trouble.I am really sad to you!”抛却此处用的sad不论, beg one’s pardon是常用的口语表达短语。
相类似的句子还有:“Me too”、“We a l w a y s h a v e s o m u c h f u n w h e n w e a r e t o g e t h e r”、“J u s t d o i t”、“P r a c t i c e y o g a, d o i t”等等。这些句子是口语、广告宣传节目中的常客, 但作为签名则显得有些不妥。
还有一句:“I am rich, if not in money, in sunny hours and summer days.”这句太过汉语化、啰嗦。而兼而有之, 说话人无非是想说自己在时间上的富足。不防改为:“Ihave abundant gold time.”
相关文化知识的缺乏。
一位年轻貌美、对爱情充满了幻想与渴望的女白领在自己的QQ个性签名档中写着“I am an independent lady”, 这有点像某大牌女明星坦言“不需要结婚”。略有英美文化知识的青年才俊一看这签名, 估计就要知难而退, 心动却不行动了。因为语言与文化密切相关, 语言学家Sapir指出:“语言基本上是一种文化和社会的产品, 因此它必须从文化和社会的角度去理解。”
3 结语
根据上述英、汉方面的实例分析, 缺乏简洁是两种语言签名共同存在的问题。相较而言, 英语签名存在的问题更多一些。概括来说, 反应了提高语言的修养与能力的必要性, 具体而言, 则是在学习和使用英语时, 首先要遵循其语法规则, 做大用词、搭配准确、指代明确、句子完整;其次, 要避免语用失误, 做到逻辑关系明确、语体得当, 同时要补充、丰富英语文化方面的相关知识。
