对于即将踏入社会的大四学生来说, 英语口语焦虑不仅影响其在学校的学习表现, 同时影响其在求职面试中的表现, 这关系着其对未来的职业选择以及求职的成功。因此, 对他们在求职中的英语口语焦虑进行研究十分必要。

1 研究方法

1.1 被试

本研究被试是杭州电子科技大学2007级33名英语专业应届本科毕业生, 其中男生11人, 女生22人。

1.2 研究工具

本研究主要采用问卷调查的形式进行。问卷由三部分组成, 第一部分为被试者的基本信息。第二部分是对焦虑的调查, 其中大部分问题参考刘聪慧 (2008.5) 所设计的问卷, 部分问题在选入时经过一定的调整, 部分问题是反向设计的。所有问题分从“1”到“5”五级。

问卷是开学之初, 由英语专业大四学生中参加过英语面试的学生现场填写和网上填写完成。本研究总共发出问卷50份, 收回33份, 其中有效问卷30份。问卷收回后, 被进行初步整理、排序, 然后进行电脑录入, 运用SPSS13.0对反向问题重新编码, 最终达到统计要求。

2 研究结果与分析

2.1 受试者求职面试英语口语焦虑整体分布

为了了解受试者求职面试英语口语焦虑整体分布情况, 我们对各焦虑值做了描述统计分析, 结果见表1:

从表1可以看出被试者对于求职面试中不能流利的讲出英语句子感到很焦虑, 是所有焦虑表现中的第一位, 这种专业知识的欠缺让测试者信心不足。同时心跳厉害也是面试时的普遍现象, 占第二位。测试者认为与自己同时参加面试的竞争者比自己优秀, 导致他们焦虑不安, 其焦虑表现占据第三。测试者在面试当中基本处于精神高度集中状态, 因此在所测试的焦虑表现中测试者“总是想到与面试无关的事”这一焦虑值最低。

2.2 男、女受试者求职面试英语口语焦虑总体情况对比

为了对比男女受试者英语口语焦虑总体情况, 我们对其焦虑值做了独立样本T检验, 结果见表2:

从表2可以看出男性受试者的焦虑平均值 (31.3636) 低于女性受试者 (33.2727) , 但二者

并不具备统计意义上的显著差异。因为对于大四学生而言, 无论男女都存在着就业压力, 并且来自同一个学校的英语专业, 他们的学习生活环境都有着共性。不过, 我们也可以看到虽然无显著差异, 女生的焦虑还是略微高于男生, 女生受到自身人格特征的影响, 在沟通交流、展示自我上显得更为矜持、更为内向[5]。

2.3 受试者口语能力自我评价与求职面试英语口语焦虑

在对自我口语能力的认识方面, 9名受试者认为自己的口语能力较好, 23人认为口语能力一般, 1人认为自己的口语很差。我们对前两类受试者的焦虑情况进行了独立样本T检验, 结果见表3:

从表3可以看出, 认为自己口语能力较好的受试者的焦虑平均值 (27.222) 低于认为口语能力一般的受试者 (34.3043) , 二者的差异接近统计上的显著水平 (P=.062) 。认为自己口语能力较好的受试者在面试时对自己的专业水平具有信心, 因此对于听不懂面试官问话或回答不出面试官所提出的问题等这一类情况显得不那么焦虑, 与一般的受试者相比具有焦虑优势。因为其认为自己口语水平较好, 因此在回答问题时就能表现得自信自然, 这会给面试官留下好印象而使是面试官的态度有所改变。如此一来, 面试者就可能掌握面试气氛, 焦虑有可能进一步降低。

2.4 受试者对外界评价的在乎程度与求职面试英语口语焦虑

为探究受试者对外界评价的程度与求职面试英语口语焦虑的相关性, 我们对二者做了皮尔逊相关分析, 结果见表4:

从表4可以看出受试者对外界评价的在乎程度与求职面试英语口语焦虑呈显著正相关, 即受试者越在乎外界评价, 他们的求职面试英语口语焦虑程度也就越大。对于受试者来说, 面试成功不仅关系着自己的职业生涯, 也关系着自己的自尊心。当自己面试成功时, 老师赞赏的眼光, 同学羡慕的眼神都会让面试者觉得自己是成功者, 自尊心得到极大满足。相反, 如果面试失败, 受试者会觉得自己在老师同学心目中失去了地位, 严重打击自信心与自尊心。因为有这一原因, 在面试时受试者会很在意面试成功与否, 同时也会在意面试官的看法, 焦虑程度自然而然的处于了高水平。

3 结论与建议

本研究通过分析发现:1) 在所测试的焦虑表现当中, 测试者想不起英语优美句子所引起的焦虑程度最高。2) 对于求职面试中的英语口语焦虑来说, 虽然女生焦虑略高于男生, 但从统计角度看, 男女焦虑差异并不显著。3) 受试者的英语口语水平自我评价与英语口语焦虑存在着极大相关性关系, 觉得口语水平较好的受试者的焦虑程度明显低于认为自己英语水平一般的受试者。4) 受试者对外界评价的在乎程度与英语口语焦虑具有显著的相关性, 对外界评价越在乎, 其焦虑程度越高。

基于以上结论和分析, 我们提出以下建议:1) 对所面试的岗位职业做好充分准备, 将面试时可能用到的英语表达认真演练。2) 英语专业学生应提高自己的专业素质。为了提高自己的英语口语水平, 英语专业学生应该多参加英语相关活动, 经常用英语交流。老师也应增强课堂的有效性, 开展互动性课程。3) 大学生应该增强自信心, 了解老师同学对自己的真实评价, 并且合理对待老师同学的眼光。老师同学也应多鼓励参加面试的同学, 增强他们的自信心, 维护他们的自尊心。

由于本文的问卷调查对象人数较少, 地域较窄, 因此本文的分析结果并不一定全面。不过, 本文所提出的求职面试中的英语口语焦虑研究, 值得更多的研究者探讨。

【关键词】船员面试 课堂教学 技能培养 面试策略

随着国际航运业的发展，优秀外派船员的需求量与日俱增。在招聘船员时，各公司也更加看重其英语口语能力。英语面试正是检验船员英语能力与专业知识的重要手段。因此，高职院校注重培养学生英语面试能力既体现了高职英语教学过程的职业性和实践性， 也符合高职教育以提高学生综合职业素质为基础，以突出培养学生职业能力为核心的特点。某种程度上来说，英语水平的高低直接决定船员收入的多少。 船员面试尽管涉及专业性很强的术语，但是基本口语能力和听懂考官的问题更关键。 面试中所用到的英语是很有限和很常见的，所以日常用语的流利表达更能使得面试成功，令面试官满意。笔者作为高职院校轮机专业英语一线教师，旨在通过本文谈谈从教学中对船员英语面试技能的渗透培养和船员面试常见应对策略。

1 面试技能培养

1.1激发轮机专业学生英语学习兴趣。提高学生学习兴趣是高职英语老师面临的一个重要的课题。笔者会通过图片和视频，展示往届毕业生异国他乡的海员生活场景。让学生了解世界各地的风景名胜风土人情，船上工作的环境和外国同事愉快相处的情景。在教学中合理发挥多媒体的辅助作用，设置恰当的场景，通常都会充分激发学生的学习热情，使其积极配合课堂活动。

1.2采用任务型教学法在课堂中培养船员英语面试技能。本着学以致用的原则，笔者经常在教学过程中设计简单而实用的英语模拟面试场景让学生演练，并让学生点评表演者的表现。让学生在一定的场景中进行活动很重要，此时给出一些参考词汇和句子，以便于学生能够很好地准备，完成教学任务。

以轮机工程系大三学生开设的《面试英语》课程为例，笔者让学生按照课本要求从形象准备，语言准备，知识准备几个方面进行一次模拟面试。学生以小组为单位讨论如何提问以及如何回答，并在教室里将整个面试过程表演出来。小组成员为5人左右，分别扮演某知名船公司的各位面试官和应聘三管轮职位的毕业生们。面试官要搜集自己所代表公司的详细资料并设计针对性的10个问题。应聘人员要准备好英文简历以及英文自我介绍。应聘者要按照真实面试要求穿着得体，回答问题时必须充满自信，谈吐清晰，并提前了解模拟面试公司的基本情况，充分展示自己对工作的热情。然后全班同学和老师一起对本小组的表现进行评价，并指出需要改进的地方。这样使学生既熟悉了面试流程，又切实应用了所学的面试技巧，而且调动了大部分学生的积极性。

通过模拟来营造真实的面试场景，从而提高学生的面试技能，语言的综合运用能力以及临场发挥技能。它不仅仅可以培养学生的口语表达能力和水平，更重要的是强调面试技能的发挥。通过模拟真实面试场景，能够促使学生学以致用，从而更有信心应对未来的各类口语面试。

1.3注意难度的把握。考虑到高职学生的英语基础较差，模拟面试活动所设计的问题和选词都需要符合该专业学生的水平，否则会弄巧成拙，打消学生的学习积极性。老师要对参与模拟面试活动的学生给予鼓励和平时成绩奖励。在执行中以学生为中心，充分让其发挥创造性，不要过多在意句型，用词和语法错误。完成表演后的点评也要以表扬和鼓励为主。

2 船员面试常见问题应对策略

2.1 The “tell me about yourself” question。如同其他专业的招聘一样，船员面试的第一个问题通常也是自我介绍。所以面试前，不能仅满足于填写好个人简历，最好能为自己准备一段自我介绍并且熟记。在陈述时，应聘者一定要注意语速和逻辑，自我介绍的目的是传递考官想了解的信息，切忌内容混乱，条理不清。

完整的自我介绍通常包括以下几个方面的内容：A： personal information and education background. 即个人信息，教育背景。包括国籍或家乡，家庭成员，婚姻状况，个人品质，性格特点，最高学历，所学专业，所学课程等等。其中介绍自己的优点可以采用第三人称陈述，显得更加可信。例如：My teacher/classmate say I am a reliable person.

B：career and life experience 即工作经历或相关社会经历。包括是否上过实习船（training vessel），去过哪些港口，在船上做过什么职位。对于刚毕业的学生，即使没有足够的工作经验，也不可胡乱编造前后矛盾，可以介绍自己的实习经历以及在学校参加过的社会实践活动等。

C：accomplishment and personal interests 成就及个人兴趣。比如取得的证书，各种比赛获奖，或者曾经做过值得称赞的事情。关于业余爱好也可以谈谈自己喜欢的运动项目，或者和工作相关的兴趣爱好，也许考官会与你志趣相投。

D：Why you are here 这个部分可以充满热情地叙述对该公司的了解和企业文化的欣赏，以及自己最适合该职位的原因。

2.2 Did you drink and smoke？ 喝酒和吸烟是很多船员都有的嗜好，这会给船舶安全造成隐患。但是一个人不可能因为工作而戒掉所有的爱好。所以面试时可以实事求是地告诉考官，即使自己有这种嗜好也不会耽误工作或违反船上的安全管理规定。可以这样回答：Well， I am a smoker， but I wont smoke in the non-smoking areas. I drink only a little， but I know clearly the alcohol policy of the company， and I will never break the alcohol policy of the company.endprint

2.3 How to maintain a good relationship with your senior officers and other crew？绝大多数公司希望自己的员工谦虚谨慎，有很好的服从意识和协调能力，注重团队合作。所以这个问题可以参考以下几个方面回答：Well， I think I must be very obedient and cooperative when I am assigned jobs. Second， I must work as hard as possible to finish the jobs assigned to me. Third， I think I must show high respect to my superiors. To keep good relationship with my superiors and other crew， it is important for me to have the teamwork spirit. Besides， more tolerance should be offered to others. Lastly， be strict with myself.

2.4 Can you talk about your family？ How do you like your parents？ How often will you call back home？这个问题看似简单，实际上却能让考官了解你以后是否会安心在船上工作，是否会因为太想家而无法专心工作。所以需要表现出家人对自己事业的支持。参考回答：My parents are very nice. They are ordinary people and support my career very much. Usually， I do not worry too much about my family. If I am not busy， I can use email to contact them or phone them when the vessel is in the port.

3 船员面试注意事项

3.1 应当预先熟记应聘岗位的职责，熟悉相关国际公约。轮机长和轮机员应掌握的知识包括： 1. 船上实习的基本经历； 2. 机舱值班内容；3. 船舶维修保养与检验； 4. 机舱管理和防污染； 5. 主辅机的吊缸及检修注意； 6. PMS（Planned Maintenance System） 相关知识。例如遇到涉及三管轮职责的问题：As a Fourth Engineer， talk about your responsibilities. 船东会重点考察应试船员对本职工作的理解和相关的专业知识，回答这类问题需要熟悉职责范围内的工作或分管的设备。对自己上级的工作要尽力协助，对自己下一级的工作也需要了解，总之轮机员需要有全局安全意识。所以可以给出以下回答作为参考：As a fourth engineer， my main responsibilities are as follows： （1） Be responsible for watching at periods of 08：00-12：00 and 20：00-24：00； （2） Be responsible for the operation， maintenance and repair of boilers， fresh water generator， oily water separator， all kinds of pumps， deck machineries and so on； （3） Be responsible for the operations of ballasting and de-ballasting. （4） Be responsible for testing the emergency fire pump and life boat engine. Last but not the least， I will work hard to keep the engine room in a good order and coordinate the relationship on board.

船东很看重船员的合作意识和团队精神，善于协调人际关系的船员有利于整艘船的安全航行。

此外，面试前需要了解比较重要的公约内容。例如：ISM规则和STCW95公约已成为全球船东强制执行的船舶安全和船员管理的体系文件。 熟悉ISM、SMS体系文件和手册及STCW 95公约，就等于熟悉船上的管理。因此， 应聘者掌握相关规则和公约等重要英文内容， 对成功通过面试是非常有帮助的。

3.2 注意面试礼仪，外在形象，保持良好的心态。面试时给人的第一印象非常重要。一个消极的第一印象，通常会留在人们脑海里长久难以抹去，这种现象叫做最初效应。所以，总的要求是：友善（Friendly）， 真诚（Sincere and faithful）， 不卑不亢（noble）， 谨慎（wary）and 幽默（humorous）. 礼貌、简洁、热情是面试的基本礼仪。进入面试房间后，应聘者应当主动问候。例如： “How do you do？” “I am Jack， it is very glad to meet you here.” 回答问题时要注意调理清晰又简明扼要，对问题要考虑之后再回答。如果考官没有马上提问，可以简短进行英文自我介绍打破僵局。此时的介绍需要言简意赅，切忌长篇大论。面试结束， 一定要有进行道别和感谢。

另一方面，应试者同样要注重外在包装，最好穿西装（business suit），皮鞋，看上去干净、整洁。如果船员奇装异服，精神萎靡，熬夜酗酒，会让船东觉得此人在实际生活中大大咧咧，马虎粗心，或者身体不健康，这都是影响船舶安全运营的大敌。

良好的心态是成功通过面试的另一重要因素。中国船员的业务能力和专业水平都很强，可是缺乏自信和英语沟通能力。因此，在面试前要努力让自己精神放松，认真做好专业知识准备和语言知识准备，克服紧张情绪，平常心态，成功的可能性反而会增加。

4 总结

对于即将毕业进入国际航运业的高职学生们来说，英语面试是一个必须攻克的难关。英语是船员生活的重要工具，甚至决定了国际船员的职业提升空间，在高职英语课堂教学中渗透面试技能的培养，促使学生进行专业知识和语言知识的结合是必然趋势。只有让学生充分发挥主观能动性，配合课堂教学活动才能收到良好的学习效果，并且将学习到的技能运用到真正的英语面试场景和以后的人际交往当中。高职院校的船员英语面试教学仍然需要不断地探索，不断地创新。
