在《新视野大学英语·读写教程》第一册第三单元的课文中有如下句子:“He went to work sick, and despite nasty weather.Unable to engage in many activities, my father still tried to participate in some way.”

(1) Angry at the girl oversleeping, Mr Green went down to wake her up. (=Mr Green went down to wake up the girl because he was angry with her for oversleeping.)

(2) Afraid of being cut off, they lost no time in turning back. (=They lost no time in turning back because they are afraid of be-ing cut off.)

(1) Overjoyed, my son dashed out of the house. (=My son, who was overjoyed, dashed out of the house.)

(2) The lost boy spent three days in the forest, cold and hungry. (=The lost boy, who was cold and hungry, spent three days in the forest.)

Ripe, these apples are sweet. (=When apples are ripe, they are sweet.)

(1) Young in years, the teacher has a heart attack. (Although he is young in years, the teacher has a heart attack.

(2) For years, wet or fine, he got up at six and had a run round the park. (=For years, no matter whether it is wet or fine, he got up at six and had a run round the park.)

The goat rolled over, dead. (=The goat rolled over and it was dead.)

意义上可转换为It is...that句型。例如:

(1) Strange, he is ignorant of it. (=It is strange that he is ignorant of it.)

(2) Surprising, she got a first in the competition. (=It is surprising that she got a first in the competition.)

(1) We eat vegetable raw.

(2) I pushed the window open.

(1) Vegetable is eaten raw.

(2) The window was pushed open.

Unable to make money to support his family, he is under a lot of stress.

The English Teacher I Admire Most为例,文章的重点应该是讲述你为什么最敬佩他(她);他(她)有什么特别之处;你怎样看待他(她);他(她)是怎样成为这样的老师的等等。 She takes us into the magical English world(她带领我们进入充满魔幻的英语世界)。

Harmony with the environment is that we live in on Earth, who is a natural son, and not only to natural persons as the conqueror, as we all know, there is only one earth and the mountains on Earth, the animals. Plant human cells, if it damaged, destroyed nature organizations, to the eradication of mankind. Therefore, the environment must be linked with social ethics, character education and practice acts as an important element of it. Everyone must fulfil its responsibilities and obligations to protect the environment.

Appetite

One of the major pleasures in life is appetite, and one of our major duties should be to preserve it.Appetite is the keenness of living: it is one of the senses that tells you that you are still curious to exist, that you still have an edge on your longings and want to bite into the world and taste its numerous flavors and juices.By appetite, of course, I don’t mean just the desire for food, but any condition of unsatisfied desire, any burning in the blood that proves you want more than you’ve got, and that you haven’t used up your life.Wilde said he felt sorry for those who never got their heart’s desire, but sorrier still for those who did.For appetite, for me, is this state of wanting, which keeps one’s expectations alive.I remember learning this lesson long ago as a child, when treats and indulgence were few, and when I discovered that the greatest pitch happiness was not in actually eating a toffee but in gazing at it

beforehand.True, the first bite was delicious, but once the toffee was gone one was left with nothing, neither toffee nor lust.Besides, the whole toffeeness of toffees was imperceptibly diminished by the gross act of having eating it.No, the best was in wanting it, in sitting and looking at it, when one tasted an endless treasure house of flavors. So, for me, one of the keenest pleasures of appetite remains in the wanting, not the satisfaction. In wanting a peach, or a whisky, or a particular texture or sound, or to be with a particular friend, for in those condition, of course, I know that the object of desire is always at its most flawlessly perfect. For that matter, I don’t want three square meals a day — I want one huge, delicious, orgiastic, table groaning blow out, say every four days, and then not be too sure where the next one is coming from①.A day of fasting is not for me just a device for denying oneself a pleasure, but rather a way of anticipating a rarer moment of supreme enjoyment.[360 words]

One spring I went a walking tour in the country. It was a glorious spring. Not the sort of spring they give us in these miserable times, under this shameless government -a mixture of east wind ,blizzard, snow, rain, fog, frost, hail, sleet and thunder-storms, but a sunny, blue-skyed, joyous spring, such as we used to have regularly every year when I was a young man, and things were different.

It was an exceptionally beautiful spring, even for those golden days; and as I wandered through the waking land, and saw the dawning of the coming green, and watched the blush upon the hawthorn hedge , deepening each day beneath the kisses of the sun, and looked up at the proud old mother trees, dandling their numerous baby buds upon their strong fond arms holding them high for the soft west wind to caress as he passed laughing by, and marked the primrose yellow creep across the carpet of the woods, and saw the new flush of the field and saw the new light on the hills, and heard the new-found gladness of the birds, and heard from wood and farm and meadow the timid callings of the little new-born things, wondering to find themselves alive, and smelt the freshness of the earth, and felt the promise in the air, and felt a strong hand in the wind, my spirit rose within me.

Spring had come to me also, and stirred me with a strange new life, with a strange new hope. I, too, was part of nature, and it was spring! Tender leaves and blossoms were unfolding from my heart. Bright flowers of love and gratitude were opening round its roots. I felt new strength in all my limbs. New blood was running through my veins. Nobler thoughts and nobler longings were throbbing through my brain. As I walked, nature came and talked beside me, and showed me the world and myself, and the ways of God seemed clearer.
