如上文的U.N./ju:`en/ (United Nations:联合国) , U.S.A./ju:es`ei/ (United States of America:美国) 及DPRK/dipi:α:`kei/ (Democratic People’s Republic of Korea:朝鲜民主主义人民共和国) 。
如OPEC/`藜upek/ (Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries:石油输出国组织) , SALT/s蘅:lt/ (Strategic Arms Limitation Talks:限制战略武器会谈) , UNESCO/ju`nesk藜u/ (the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization:联合国教科文组织) [2]。
比如:rpm (revolution per minute:每分钟转数) , a.p.r. (annual percentage rate:年百分率) , AALA (American Automotive Leasing Association:美国汽车租借协会) , TOU (Trace Operate Unit:追踪装置, 故障探测装置) 。
比如p.s.
p.p.s (post postscriptum:信末附言之后的再附言) , RNA (ribonucleic acid:核糖核酸) , DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid:脱氧核糖核酸) , ESP (extrasensory perception:超感觉的知觉) 。
例如:H-bomb (Hydrogen bomb:氢弹) , G-man (Government Man, 美国联邦调查局侦探) , D-notice (Defense notice:国务通告) 及V-J Day (Victory over Japan Day:战胜日本纪念日) [2]。
如在X.O (extra old:在白兰地酒中用来指酒超纯, 其存放年份在45年以上) 和IOU (I owe you:借据;借条) 这两个词中, 分别用X和U来取代E和Y。
如Rand D (Researchand Development:研究与发展) ;Rand B (Rhythm and Blues:蓝调音乐) ;A.F.of L. (American Federation of Labor:美国劳工联盟) ;B of E (Bank of England:英格兰银行) 。 如RIP (rest in peace:愿灵安眠) , TOT (Time of Transmission:传输时间) , POW (prisoner of war:战俘) 。 例如:AA (Air to Air:空对空) ;AAAS (American Academy of Arts and Sciences:美国艺术与科学研究院) 。
必须注意的是, 在这类构词法中, 虽然是由汉字首个拼音组合而成的, 但是在发音时, 却是用英文来发音。也就是说, 读的时候必须是将各个字母读成相对应的英文字母发音。比如BS, 发音是“bi:`es”, 而不是拼音发音的“bo s”;

OIC - Oh I see
BFN - Bye for now
LOL - Laughing out loud
ASAP - As soon as possible
BTW - By the way...
JK - Just kidding
TTYL - Talk to you later
Plz - Please
Thx - Thanks
Cya - See you
L8r - Later
K - OK
U - You
R - Are
B4 - Before
2morro - Tomorrow

Lee was born in 1954 in Taiwan. In 1975, he graduated from the National Taiwan College of Arts, after which he went to the United States to continue his studies. There, he earned a Bachelor’s Degree (学士学位) in Theater and a Master’s in Film Production.
After graduation, Ang Lee pursued a career in the US.But as a foreign director, he found it tough going. He had to wait 6 years before he finally got his break.
Writing screenplays for directors was routine for Lee during those early years. His wife took on all the responsibility of making ends meet (量入为出) for the family.Years of being a househusband made Lee a mild person with excellent cooking skills. His experiences later helped serve as subject matter for his movies.
1990 saw a turning point in Lee’s career. He entered two scripts in an official competition in Taiwan. He won both first and second places with Pushing Hands and The Wedding Banquet.
Pushing Hands is a comedy-drama about generational and cultural differences. Its central metaphor (隐喻) is the father’s Tai-Chi technique of Pushing Hands. The culture clash becomes evident when the father goes to live with his son in America and takes a shine to a Chinese cooking instructor. In the film, the father is played by Taiwan actor Sihung Lung, who also plays the patriarch (家长) in Lee’s The Wedding Banquet and Eat Drink Man Woman.Together, these three films comprise a trilogy that Lee himself calls Father Knows Best.
Pushing Hands was a big hit that also attracted considerable attention from film critics. The film earned Lee eight nominations in Taiwan’s Golden Horse Awards, and he eventually won the Best Director of the Jury Prize.
A seemingly unlikely choice to film the screen adaptation of a classic British novel, Lee was then hired to direct Sense and Sensibility. It was his first fully English-language movie.Adapted from Jane Austen’s classic and starring Emma Thompson, the movie earned rave reviews (如潮的好评) .In many ways, it has a lot in common with his earlier productions, which focus on miscommunication and the effect of a patriarch on his family.Sense and Sensibility received seven Oscar nominations, and won the Golden Bear Award at the Berlin Film Festival.
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon is considered one of Lee’s greatest works. The movie is an exciting cocktail of different genres—historical romance, martial arts and the classic American Western—that has had massive audience appeal. The picture caused an international sensation (轰动) and earned ten Academy Award nominations. The four trophies he eventually won include an Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film. This makes Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon the first Asian film to win the Oscar. It is also the highest grossing (总收入) foreign-language movie ever released in America.
Ang Lee said:“The biggest attraction for an audience is to have something really fresh.Once you lose that, no one will appreciate your work.”
Ang Lee’s latest movie of 2012 Life of Pi is based on the novel of the same name by Canadian writer Yann Martel. It tells the tale of a young boy named Pi, who is the only person to survive a sinking cargo ship.He finds himself on a lifeboat with an orangutan (猩猩) , a hyena (鬣狗) , a wounded zebra and a Bengal tiger.During this unlikely journey, young Pi questions and reassures his belief in god and the meaning of life.
The novel was once considered impossible to make into a movie, but Lee persuaded 20th Century Fox to invest$120 million and heavily relied on 3D special effects in post-production.The movie made its commercial premiere (首映) during the Thanksgiving weekend of 2012in the US and worldwide.
Ang Lee said he was nervous throughout the four-year shoot about ensuring the$120 million art house movie (文艺片) had general appeal. However he has received positive reviews so far.
Lee said, “Watching an art house film you can think and explore philosophical issues, but for a popular film we also need to make the audience feel touched, and that was the most difficult part.”
The majority of the film was shot in Taiwan. The director drafted in a 150-member team from around the world, including experts in 3D, animation and visual art.A large water tank was built at a studio in Taichung, in central Taiwan.
Lee said, “I haven’t seen anyone do well making realistic water in 3D, so I built up a water tank and tried my best to create something different. It was like doing an experiment in a laboratory.I worked with a group of 3D visual artists, great animation designers from the movie Titanic and Water War and we have made some very creative animation in 3D.”
Life of Pi stars Suraj Sharma. For the19-year old, being part of the movie has been life-changing.He says he was lucky to be chosen by Ang Lee to star in the film and has learned a lot from him.
Actor Suraj Sharma said, “What makes him special, at least for me, is the fact that he is a great director but more than that he is a great human being.I got lucky because he chose me and showed me no matter how big you get, as long as you keep your feet on the ground everything will be OK.”
Ang Lee’s Life of Pi won four Oscars on Feb.24, 2013 at the 85th Academy Awards, including Best Director for Lee himself.
