托福写作素材:网络

下面,我们就来积累一写“关于网络”的托福写作素材。

1.网络的作用

The technology revolution is upon us. In the past, there have been many triumphs in the world of technology. To this date, people are able to communicate over thousands of miles with the greatest of ease. The Internet connects nearly 400 million users worldwide and is an essential part of how we work, play, communicate, and conduct commerce. We use the Internet in ways that seemed unimaginable in the past.

2.互联网使用的四大障碍

local information barriers

literacy barriers

language barriers

cultural diversity barriers

3.网络的好处

The Internet provides convenience for people to learn at home. Internet based training gas become a common business tool used to gain advancements in current jobs. Tutoring over the Internet is also available. Business on the Internet is a growing technology. Business on the Internet has no geographic boundaries; it has access to more consumers. Approximately 150 businesses join the Internet every day. There is less labor force needed and it is open 24 hours a day. The Internet is also a bigger and cheaper way to advertise. In the past 20 years, the Internet has changed a number of areas in society, especially the business world. In the last 40 years, the Internet has gone from a method of defense communication for the government, to a business venture for an entrepreneur or a fortune 500-company. The Internet is a way for gaining consumers, products and capital for a business.

In a world of light-speed data transmission, any individual with little training and expertise can make a fortune from the

Internet. Many companies, like Amazon.com or eBay, thrive from business done through Internet transactions.

4.网络的危害

data leakage

virus infringe one’s privacy

national security

censorship

The Internet has many great uses, but, as anything else, negative things can be done there as well. The beauty of the Internet is that it is so large that it’s nearly impossible to keep track of what bad things everyone is doing. A few examples are someone can steal a cell phone and then by using the Internet, they can reprogram the telephone to work off someone’s account and not be traced. Other examples are the pirates of software. Someone can get a program that Microsoft sells for about one thousand dollars for free and it can’t be traced. There is another fact that nearly anything can be traded online, like drugs, weapons such as high power guns, bombs, and the list for these items goes on and on. One of the worst things that

the police really want to get their hands on is Child Pornography. It is not so hard to keep track of when people had to go out and hand deliver this stuff, but through the Internet the scum who partake in this don’t have to leave their homes. A big problem is the fact that underage kids can see what they are not meant to. This does not just end up back at porn though; there are images of extreme violence on humans and animals.

5.技术提高了人类生存条件还是恶化了人类生存条件

Philosophical debates have arisen over the present and future use of technology in society, with disagreements over whether technology improves the human condition or worsens it. Neo-Luddism, anarcho-primitivism, and similar movements criticize the pervasiveness of technology in the modern world, claiming that it harms the environment and alienates people; proponents of ideologies such as trans-humanism and techno-progressivism view continued technological progress as beneficial to society and the human condition. Indeed, until recently, it was believed that the development of technology was restricted only to human beings, but recent scientific studies indicate that other primates and certain dolphin

communities have developed simple tools ad learned to pass their knowledge to other generations.

6.科技对家庭的影响

Technology allows families living in different locations to stay in touch with each other. Filipinos are now able to sent text messages to their relatives in the United States and Europe. Singaporeans who are working overseas are able to keep in touch with their families back home via the Internet. Children of expatriate Laos are able to learn more about their parents’ home country via the Internet.

第二篇:托福写作:钱与朋友

Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Two people can become good friends even if one of them has more money than the other.

Generally, I disagree with statements that two persons cannot be friends if one is richer than the other. From many TV plays and movies, we always can see that after long time of crucifixion, a poor boy and a rich girl eventually become friends. However, these fairy-tale stories only have chance to appear in fairy tale. In the reality , this will never happen because rich people and poor people have different goals of lives and different life styles.

To begin with, poor people and rich people have different goals of living. Even from the beginning of their lives, they undertake the different missions. Since poor people were born, their goal of living has never changed, which is leading a decent life, such as buying a spacious apartment, a nice car and having a happy family . However, rich people’ s goal of living is to continue their parents’ business. For example, poor people will talk about housing loan, but when rich people sit together, they will talk about buying which building just taken shape. So we can imagine when rich people and poor people discuss the houses, it is self-defeating for rich people and embarrassing for poor people.

Secondly, rich people and poor people have different ways of living. On this point, poor people will definitely repel rich people because poor people feel less confident. For example, when they finish their jobs, what poor people only can do every day is to go back homes and stay with their families, while rich people can have different choices to relax themselves. For instance, rich people can go to the golf courts to enjoy the fresh air and indulge themselves into pleasure of getting closer to the nature. Poor people can only sit in front of TV to see the soap operas.

Admittedly, exceptions do exist in some special aspects. Basketball player serve as good examples. In NBA, about 50 percent of players were born in slums. However, when they finally own tons of money, they still are contacting with their friends who were not rich at all. Allen Iverson is a NBA player, but he always holds the parties with his friends in slums.

All in all, in most cases, people with huge difference in their economic conditions cannot be friends.

Do you agree or disagree that university should spend money on improving facilities (labs and general requirements) rather than hiring famous teachers?

Nowadays it rarely surprises us any more that there are relatively large numbers of facilities such as labs and libraries in the campus of universities. However, hordes of people are likely to go to extremes to hold that the university should not spend that much money on improving facilities on account of the lack of fund. Perhaps there is a slice of credibility in their argument, but I, without hesitation, advocate that it’s really essential for the universities to improve facilities

Granted, it is true that by saving money from the investment of facilities, the universities may concentrate more on the development of curriculum and the welfare which is provided for the teachers and professors. The statistics from the Harvard University reveal, astonishingly, that 62.7% people suggest that the universities should not be too eager to develop the general requirements. However, they ignore the fact that these facilities provided by the universities will definitely benefit the students in more ways than one.

First and foremost, what never seizes to enthrall me is that the facilities will build a great atmosphere for the people (mainly college students) to study and relax. If the university constructs a great library which stores up millions of books or more, it will surely appeal to lots of studious students and those who don’t have the opportunity to attend the university. So actually this kind of facilities benefits the whole society, so do labs and other general requirements. Also, facilities like a natatorium or a gym can provide the basic facilities for students to relax. As we all know, students suffer both from studying burden and everyday lives. They need a way to relax, and these facilities just happen to provide great opportunities to relieve and extenuate their pressure. Therefore, there is no denying that by spending money on improving facilities a university will, to a great extent, enrich the students’ knowledge and broaden their horizon and give them the chance to relax at the same time.

Moreover, the reputation gained from various facilities exerts a considerable fascination on me. If a university has more facilities which can provide students with more privilege, it can surely attract more top students who want the best education. Also, a famous university with variety numbers of facilities can add to the prestige of the city, the province, even the country which it belongs to. A case concerns MIT, which is one of the most celebrated universities all over the world. It has gained a high reputation for its prominent labs and stat-of-the-art equipments which provide students with the remarkable experimental qualification. Also, it makes its city, Cambridge, better known by the people as a cosmopolitan, international and civilized conurbation. Accordingly, it is apparent that the variety of the universities will make itself more eminent, therefore making significant contribution to the prosperity of the region.

In conclusion, it is true that the limitation on funding facilities will economize some manpower and material resources for a university, but in order to provide both the students andthe universities with a bright future, spending money on these general equipments should never be off the table by a university.

托福写作高分范文(30)

Some high schools require all students to wear school uniforms. Other high schools permit students to decide what to wear to school. Which of these two school policies do you think is better?

While in most present day high schools it is controversial that whether students should wear uniforms, most elementary schools have adopted uniform policy with wide support. Uniforms serve students

benefits in several ways. First of all, uniforms act as social equalizers. Children often feel less social pressure when everyone in the school dresses the same way. Students who can not be fashionable due to limited family finances are made to feel more comfortable among their peers. Moreover, the wearing of uniforms affects students’ perceptions of school climate. Students are made to feel as if they are a part of a team by wearing a uniform. School climate is improved considerably because kids perceive that they fit in because they look like everybody else. In addition, school uniforms would assist students and parents in other ways. Students would learn to appreciate the elimination of so many choices when getting dressed for a school day. Students would not be tardy for school as often because of the indecision about what to wear in the mornings.

However, when the issue comes to high school situation, further details should be carefully examined. Students in high schools are in a much different situation from students in elementary schools or middle schools. High school students are sometimes called young adults, by which people are expecting their maturity, at least to some extent. It’s moderate that schools are expected to operate a well-disciplined,

structured environment that is conducive to learning. But uniform is not the right answer to various difficulties and problems that the high school education is confronting. For example, while proponents address the safety that uniform policy would bring, opponents are aware of the fact that campus violence would not be reduced because of uniforms. Having grown up already, most students no longer feel that uniforms help them become a part of the school. Furthermore, Uniforms may not save parents as much money as many people would like to believe. Uniforms do not eliminate the need for clothing needed for outside school. Students many times wear their school clothing the rest of the day once they are home from school. Sneakers, jackets, boots, casual clothing, and more will still be needed. What may first appear to be economical, may not in reality, be accurate.
