三级口译证书考试分为三个部分。第一部分为对话，要求考生将一篇约600字/字符的对话分别译成日语或汉语。第二部分为日译汉交替传译，要求考生将一篇500字符左右的日语发言译成汉语。第三部分为汉译日交替传译，要求考生将一篇250字左右的汉语发言译成日语。考试时间大约为30分钟。 口译采取听录音做翻译的方式进行。考生将听到的一段日语或汉语讲话分别译成汉语或日语，并同时录在磁带上。每段讲话录音中，每隔几秒钟或几十秒钟后有一段停顿，停顿时间约为播放录音时间的1～1.5倍，该时间是留给考生翻译的时间。听录音时，考生可以做笔记，并充分利用停顿的时间进行翻译。 正式考试前考生每人可获得一张口译证书考试“考生须知”，“考生须知”指导考生如何填写姓名、考点和考号，说明考试方式，“考试内容”一项给出各部分考试的内容简介。

三、考试计分方式与合格线

满分为100分。其中第一部分为40分，第二部分为30分，第三部分为30分。 考试合格标准为：总分70分，并要求第一部分不低于24分，第二部分不低于18分，第三部分不低于18分。
